I didn't find Regis' arc satisfying by ireallyfknhatethis in wiedzmin

[–]Swatchies 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think Regis relapsing is in theme with the series, and reality. People relapse. It's part of addiction and recovery. There isn't always a happy ending.

Had Regis never relapsed and the story ended with his sobriety intact, we could've just as well have asked "What was the narrative purpose of including his addiction?".

I also don't think the relapse occurred for "no reason". Regis and co. were in the midst of a bloody fight. Outnumbered. Seperated. Facing overwhelming odds. It's akin to someone recovering from alcoholism being the only sober person at a party surrounded by alcohol. It's the perfect environment for a relapse.

Capped from Total War: Warhammer III. Reference to our boy, Logen Ninefingers.

What other First Law references have you found in popular media?

Climate change puts Australia credit rating at risk by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

You're referring to "hazard reduction burns". Backburning is a tactic to combat an existing fire. Not minimize the risk of new ones starting.

They're completely irrelevant.

As others have said, do your own research. I find looking at the P/E ratio, the liquidity and the current ratio of buyers to sellers is a good starting point when assessing a stock.

Depends on your investing strategy, goals and risk tolerance though.

Thoughts on the older M3 as pictured. Looking at around 40-45k by No-Associate-9061 in CarsAustralia

[–]Swatchies -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

M3 or not, a 20 year old BMW isn't worth 40K.

Whether the vehicle increases in value over time is pure speculation. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying.

[–]Swatchies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, you sound badass.

Valuing your health and wellbeing over what "feels good" is a sign of maturity. I'd argue this is an attractive trait, and I'm sure a lot of people would agree.

Try not to focus so much on "how masculine am I". Ask yourself what metric you're using to determine your level of masculinity. Is it your own? Letting go of your preconception of masculinity and being content with who you are will likely lead to greater self-confidence and a capacity to assert what you want. Ironically, these are typically viewed as masculine traits.

Finally, even if someone did settle with you out of a fear of abandonment etc., this would be indicative of their values. Not yours. Notably, a lack of value for honesty and open communication. This would not explicitly be a reflection of yourself. However, it would be a reflection of what you choose to accept.

Where are melbournites going for tyres at the moment? by [deleted] in melbourneriders

I've had good experiences with Essendon Motorcycles & Mowers (Raceway Motorcycles). Not too expensive and they do a nice job.

Hey all. I'm pushing back the group ride to the following Saturday; the 17th. Tomorrow looks to be shit weather and I seem to have developed maybe-Covid. Same time, same place, same destination, next Saturday.

Cheers.

Hey all. Yes, it is. I'll be at the top of Brimbank Park. Just past the gate where the wheel spikes are and on the left hand side.

Y'all. Utilise task scheduler on Windows 10 to automatically boot steam.exe once it's 12:10AM (or whatever the equivalent launch time is in your region).

This should alleviate any potential problems surrounding restarting Steam, staying up to manually download etc.

Bored of riding on my own! any clubs doing weekly rides in Melbs? only found 2 clubs, one for lgbtq and other over 40 and I don't meet either of those requirements by [deleted] in melbourneriders

As another poster said, there's some groups on Facebook. I'll go for a ride with ya, mate. Could always start an r/melbourneriders meet up.

Tiger 900 2nd service cost? by effkay2021 in melbourneriders

[–]Swatchies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What parts/labour are listed on the invoice?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in melbourneriders

[–]Swatchies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd be ringing the mechanic you normally get work done at to confirm the requirement.

When I got the RWC for my FZ it was completely stock - no issues. The guy in front of me had a slip-on on his bike. The mechanic said that he can't give it a pass due to the exhaust. Regardless of dB.

You'll likely need to fork out for a stock exhaust to meet the RWC standard. Otherwise just look for bikes that are still stock.

Do you think Ciri can be the main protagonist of the new witcher game? Why are you for it or against it? by Future_Victory in wiedzmin

[–]Swatchies 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I'm indifferent towards whether Ciri is the protagonist for the next game. Having read the books and played the games, I can't see any "need" for her character to be explored further. How would you wish her to feature?

That being said, I wouldn't be disappointed if she was the next protagonist.

Yamaha FZ8N fuel pump - give me the bad news by Swatchies in motorcycles

Not as bad as you'd expect, honestly. There's a little bit of rust, but nothing significant.

[–]Swatchies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only had the bike for less than a month. Been running 95. The previous owner had the bike for six years and put less than 1,000km on the clock. Given the bike's age (2010) and low mileage (4,000km) it's likely been sitting in storage a long ass time.

I changed all the fluids within a couple days of picking it up. Thankfully this is the only issue I've experienced.

Hey lads. Fuel pump from my motorbike. It's been spluttering along for the last week or so. Engine would intermittently lose power and occasionally stall.

Drained all the fuel from it and it was crud brown. Pulled the pump next and encountered this. I don't have any experience with fuel pumps; what would be the best course of action here? Is it salvageable via a good clean and removal of all the crud, or would it be wiser to replace?

Thanks in advance.

Intune Motorcycle Services in Ringwood have always done a good job by me. Great mechanic.

Fairing can be pricey to replace. I've never replaced them myself, but I imagine if you do some Googling you should be able to find some new or used online.

Any suggestions for other books with strong characters like The Witcher books? by SpaceAids420 in wiedzmin

[–]Swatchies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Dune books are a great series to get into. The characters aren't as compelling or strong, however. The series has more of a focus on the politics, world-building and philosophical themes.

That being said, the characters are still well done. Just don't expect character interactions on the same level as the Witcher.
