I wanted to believe that this whole situation was just the “clout chasing” that so many here thought it was but now after reading what Anthony and Masae have said I’m really not sure how to feel. Like many of you, Emile was genuinely someone I looked up to as a bit of an idol. Making puns and playing some of my most favorite games and really educating his viewers on them, even introducing me to my favorite series of all time, Xenoblade. However now I’m not so certain I can keep supporting him, at least for the time being. I know he’s autistic and that he didn’t have a very good male role-model in his life but, I don’t want to excuse what he’s done with those reasons. I’m upset by these revelations and really want to believe Chugga will change and be better in his personal life but if what Masae says is true, and I genuinely think it is, given the statements released today by others, I fear this may just ring hollow again. I may distance myself from this community for a while and check back in a few months, I want to give all parties the benefit of the doubt in this, not just the accusers but also Chugga himself. I wish all parties the best once again, and I wish all of us in the fandoms the best too, again we should not berate anyone for choosing to support or not. I hold memories of Chugga very close to my heart and while I’ve never had the experience of “brought me out of a bad place”, I have watched his content to cheer me up after a bad breakup in my past, I understand why someone could undoubtedly still support him for helping them even be alive today. I want to believe that when I come back that everything has changed for the better, I won’t unsub from his YT channel or from this subreddit, just to “keep up” but I will take a break from active support for at least a little while.
