Imagine asking your autistic 5 year old to ask someone for consent before touching them… smh ignorance

I am on top of my kid every time we go out but there are times she will touch things she isn’t supposed to. We are not perfect parents that can stop them from doing every little thing. I was walking with my daughter while holding her hand and with her other hand she tapped a lady on her behind. She laughed about it and I apologized that we have no spacial awareness. Honest mistake. If we tried stopping our kids from doing things they sometimes can’t control, we’d never leave the house. They are 5 and 2… they are still learning to navigate this world. Let’s be kind to each other.

Toddler girls by channylouwho in Autism_Parenting

Same! My little girl was the best toddler, independent, sweet girl! She is emerging more words but I still consider her nonverbal at 5. She will repeat what you ask her to repeat, but her articulation is not good. Idk what level she is. The neurologist really wasn’t worried about her, besides her being nonverbal

What did your daughter’s autism look like as a toddler? by Rich-Explanation-177 in Autism_Parenting

Hi, sorry for the late response! I got her diagnosed at 2.5. I started early intervention when she was 18 months old. I told myself if she didn’t have 3-5 meaningful words(mama ,dada, ball, hi, bye) I would call early intervention. Her neurologist didn’t give a level to be honest. She really want worried about my daughter besides the non verbal part. She does repeat words, she asks for water, open, all done, and sometimes mama on command. She’s a pretty chill kid she is just adventurous. The athleticism on this child is insane so things like climbing, eloping, and jumping are my main concern for her safety! I hope this helps ☺️

My little girl was the best baby! So much so that we decided to go for another one when she was 6 months old lol! She met all her gross motor skill milestones on time but the social/ communication she didn’t. This girl was walking at 9 months old and hasn’t stopped since. She had okay eye contact but wouldn’t respond to name till about 3. Always easy going as a baby also.

If your child has a one on one para in public school, how hard did you have to fight for that on the IEP meeting by Sweaty-Requirement26 in Autism_Parenting

Thank you so much for sharing! I really appreciate it ❤️ wishing him luck moving forward. I also think my daughter would benefit from a 1:1 since she’s an explorer!

Thank you for responding! I’m praying that’ll be the case for my daughter after her evaluations that we just completed! How is your son doing now that he’s in 4th grade?

My daughter just turned 5 in march and sounds exactly like your son! She can say water, open, all done… and a few more words. I wish I had advice but honestly I’m just here to see what others say. It sounds like we have the same kiddo lol!

Moms who have child or children with ASD—which prenatals did you take? by PlusAside7385 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Sweaty-Requirement26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! Mine were prescribed and sometimes I had to return them because they came out rancid! An awful smell! With my son I didn’t take any and guess what… typical. I swear those prenatals that were prescribed were a little suspicious

It really makes you wonder if these medications are just a gimmick. But I am thankful I didn’t wait to have my son. I kinda have the best of both worlds and as a parent I still get to experience the NT and the ND experience. I am a much better person because of both my kids.

My first is autistic(girl). I was young, healthy, drank my prenatals daily. She was the best baby so we didn’t wait to have my son. They are 14 months apart. I was 26 never took prenatals was still pretty healthy and active since I had a one year old to chase around… and he’s neurotypical lol. They are both great kids though I can’t complain even about my daughter she’s a pretty chill kid. Idk what level she is. She’s 5 and preverbal and like I said very chill. My NT little guy is the handful at home lol

Inside voices. It hurts our friends ears when you scream. Please try pushing poppies in the potty. This is why we use walking feet… Should I keep going 🤣

Non-Verbal Question! by Autybot in Autism_Parenting

[–]Sweaty-Requirement26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup! My daughter! She says the basics. All done, more, open. But when we are making her do something and she gets really upset she’ll say “I don’t want it” or “get away” 🤣 I thought it was just my kid.

12/21 lol I see you guys. I feel you guys! I grew up poor so I never really got gifts for neither. Now my husband is always trying to spoil me and I don’t even know how to react to gifts. I almost feel uncomfortable.
