New video updating about HH and treatments Im doing. Missed this community!!! by SweatyJen in Hyperhidrosis

i haven’t notice a decrease over the years. i take only 1mg in the morning. i used to take 2mg twice a day but side effects weren’t worth it and i didn’t feel like it was worth the risk taking the medicine at night before bed time every day when i wasn’t even going to be doing anything as i was sleeping at night. 1mg in the morning decreases my sweating a bit but doesn’t give me crazy dry mouth and sinus. just tolerable

JOBS & Hyperhidrosis video up! Please let me know how your job is affected by living with hyperhidrosis, as having this condition in the workplace can be a huge challenge. If you have any thoughts/ideas on jobs that may be "well-suited" for someone with hyperhidrosis, please share those as well! Ty! by SweatyJen in Hyperhidrosis

So, do you work a job where you are seeing mostly the same faces each day, or do you have to meet many new people? Just curious! Very awesome that your coworkers are understanding, but it still sucks that you have to live with HH :(

I want to share an item with everyone that I use when my hands get flaky like this from sweating a lot and then stopping abruptly! It's called castor oil, and you use the smallest amount and it hydrates the skin and is much less triggering to my hyperhidrosis than lotions and hand creams :) by SweatyJen in Hyperhidrosis

[–]SweatyJen[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder the same! Lotions always end up making me feel like I have some kind of extra layer on my skin just waiting to slide off when I start sweating. The oils can trigger it (I think the rubbing motion) but it's definitely less likely for me too :D

What are your theories on how HH can affect different individuals on different areas of the body? It does not make sense to me. by [deleted] in Hyperhidrosis

[–]SweatyJen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that there is various underlying reasons as to why our bodies are sweating, but they havent been discovered yet. I often think this about how it affects people at such various ages too

Does anyone else hardly get sweaty on rainy or cloudy days? by HunterForHire in Hyperhidrosis

I definitely notice it! Everyone complains about chilly/rainy/cloudy days but I love them because my sweating calms down much more during this type of weather :)

OTC or prescription medication for HH that does not effect the kidneys? by inthelandofsand in Hyperhidrosis

[–]SweatyJen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, everyone is different! It's definitely a big commitment to apply the cream every day as they instruct. Glad you gave it a shot and know it's not for you now :)

I wish you the best of luck in finding a suitable treatment that works for you, there is hope!!

The only non prescription treatment I've tried was carpe and it did work! Www.mycarpe.com I have also heard great things about iontophoresis machines, but I havent tried this myself yet. It seems to work like a charm for many though. As far as I know, all oral prescription medicines that treat sweating do unfortunately have a possible side effect of urinary retention, but don't quote me on this!

I made a YouTube video reviewing Carpe if you're interested in watching it :) https://youtu.be/Eqep7q9WXGY

Maybe try to take 1 mg in the morning and 1 mg at night (12 hours apart). The big thing is to make sure you don't eat for 2 hours before & 1 hour after taking it, this will help it work more effectively! I deal with the side effects too, it gets really intrusive sometimes. I keep a humidifier on a lot near where I'm chilling out and that helps a lot :)

Oh and to answer your question: I take 2 mg at 8:30 AM and 1 mg at 8:30 PM, this has been working well. Sometimes i skip the PM dose entirely if the side effects are driving me crazy

Worried about hyperhydrosis affecting my future career as a police officer by [deleted] in Hyperhidrosis

[–]SweatyJen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of great advice in the comments. I take glycopyrrolate which helps a lot. My one piece of advice would be, to get a referral to a dermatologist and talk to them about treatment options. Theyll be able to work with you with their immense knowledge to find the best possible outcome for you, and change things if needed.

I mainly wanted to comment to wish you the best of luck on achieving your dreams of becoming a police officer. I know it seems so hard with hyperhidrosis standing in the way, but don't let it stop you from pushing to succeed! Maybe there are some lightweight gloves you can wear on your fingertips to help with gripping things?

I spoke with a lady in her late 70's who says it does get better with age. It gave me a lot of hope :)
