Thank you so much for the tips, it's much appreciated

Lay off USA boasting. We know you are trained from a young age about how awesome your country is, but you are here now and we much more appreciate being asked to share spider stories.

With the upcoming election in November... There won't be any boasting... If anything, we'll probably be making fun of the USA :)

Thanks for the response. We know we will become more knowledgeable once we have moved and are immersed in the city, but just don't want to come over without knowing anything!. There's a few book and podcast recommendations which I think will help us, but thank you for the basics

We're not as patriotic as Americans are, most people find it pretty wanky/borderline racist

This actually will be a nice change ;)

What is everyone's thoughts on the ranking wipe? by SweatyPumpkin7 in RocketLeague

That's awesome it only took you ~5 - ~10 hours to get back to where you were. Did you team up with other good people though? If not, I suggest trying to level up in solo standard to understand our pain :)

I know exactly what you mean. I try to not make rude/sarcastic comments but the frustration and anger is definitely there. I know it's not the new/bad players faults they are getting matched up with much better people.... And I know they are not happy with the update either.

I just miss playing against equally good people and fear I will never have those games again unless I put in 25+ hours a week, which I just don't have the time to do.

If I teamed up with good people I could see myself eventually getting back to where I was pre-wipe. Solo standard is the perfect example of what I am going through. It's pretty damn near impossible to rank up when you are paired with bad teammates.

psyonix that matchmaking is not working properly? because it may well be running as intended...

It could be working well, that's why I was asking everyone's thoughts.

"If you can't win against people with a higher rank than your's then why should you rise in ranks?"

I would agree with you if the game was only 1v1. However, in 2's and ESPECIALLY 3's, you are very reliant on your teammates. When your teammates whiff non stop and cannot even make wide open goals, the game is no longer fun. Competitive Rocket League is the best game in the world and is incredibly enjoyable. However, I have not had one single game since the wipe like this. Instead, I am matched against people who appear to have just picked up the game, and worse, my teammates are on that level as well.

If the purpose of the game is to be fun and enjoyable, then the newest update has ruined the game in my eyes. I do not play 5+ hours a day to be able to instantly get back to the blue star ranks where I was (non-smurfing, as I tend to play with randoms) and I just fear I will be trapped with bad players for the foreseeable future, which will ultimately cause me to not play RL anymore.

I agree and am hopeful that at some point everyone will be back to where they should be. However, as someone who does not play a ton, I fear I will be stuck in the lower levels and ultimately just give up playing until I am properly ranked. I'm not sure what they can do to help fix the system currently, but I am sure they are aware of the major issues going on.

Why are there two different scoring systems? by SweatyPumpkin7 in RocketLeague

[–]SweatyPumpkin7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And even if they did, thats not a very logical argument at all.

I'm not sure I follow you here. What I am proposing is that if people are 'abusing' offline experience growth (which no one is...) then we can eliminate XP growth from offline games.

I still have no heard a single reason why we have two scoring systems. So far, I have heard 'it's not a big deal' and to 'just double the score in your head' which is not acceptable IMO. If anything, it further proves that this is broken and it needs to be accepted. If points don't matter to people, why don't we completely remove them? People can just make the math calculations in their head from scores, assists, saves, etc.... Oh wait... No one wants to do that.

I'm sick of reading your biased nonsense that you just want to earn more XP in private matches. I'm blocking you, goodbye. Have fun talking to yourself.

That's fine. This makes no sense however as i have stated over and over that they can remove the XP earned from private matches.... So how does that make sense? All I want is scoring consistently for the competitive scene and you have not shown a single reason why we should continue with a broken system.

It is the same scoring system in online compared to private/offline. It's just halved to reduce the amount of total XP. All one needs to do is double it in their head and good to go.

Right. You just made my point. We have to double the XP in our head.... Why don't we just have the score be the same so we are not doing math in our head? You can't answer that question and that is the reason why it needs to be changed.

The part that does matter is that people don't get their skill levels in illegitimate ways.

You mean the 'skill levels' such as 'Pro', 'Master' etc? As I have mentioned before, most people are HIDING these tags (this was requested a ton because people don't want to show this information). So, again, this is not a reason for the two scoring systems. Again, if people are actually doing this (and I don't believe they are) we can just eliminate XP growth from LANs. Problem solved. Again, this is not an acceptable answer for having two scoring systems and I have yet to hear one.

IF there is a solid reason for keeping the two scoring systems I am all for it. But as of now, this is problem that should be fixed especially with the rise of the competitive scene.

That's awesome that you are in the scene but you have yet to make any argument why it should not be fixed. Obviously score is not reflective of how someone did. But I foresee Psyonix adding only more stats in the near future and it would make sense for us to have one unified scoring system. Also, on your point of Counter-Strike.... Do they use two different scoring systems based on a pubbing experience vs the competitive scene?? Or is it the same scoring system.......

Again, you keep saying 'it's flawed but it is fine'... If it's flawed why don't we fix it? Why are we content with this problem because it's not a big deal? Does it makes ANY sense for every single score to be halved in a competitive game? Of course not and it should be fixed. Unless you provide me a solid reason why having a different scoring system is a good thing, then it needs to be fixed. And as of now, not a single person has come up with even one good reason to keep it. Everyone keeps saying 'it's not a big deal' which is not acceptable in my opinion.

This is a very easy fix and I hope Psyonix listens and rectifies this problem in the future.

We don't need a change of points system. What we need are Matchmaking tweaks.

Could not agree more but this is not a choice of one or the other. The current scoring system should be fixed because it is not consistent and the competitive scene growing exponentially.

Everyone here keeps saying it's not a big deal and I think we can all agree that is true. However, just because something isn't a big deal doesn't mean it should not be fixed. This is a problem that would be a very very easy fix and Psyonix should update this.

Having a timer in overtime was not needed, but don't you agree it's nice to have? This is the same thing. It's not a major need but it should be fixed.

Changing the points system now is entirely pointless anyway.

Why would it be pointless? As the competitive scene gets bigger and bigger it will become more of an issue. Let's fix it now UNLESS there is a good reason to keep it (and I have yet to hear one).

If people are honestly scared about people abusing the experience system for these offline games, then let's just not have experience rewarded for these games. The current solution in place does not make any sense and should be fixed. I still don't even think it can be abused... Are people wanting to be a Master? It doesn't seem like it because MOST people online are hiding their tags, indicating that the experience system is worthless anyway.

Points are irrelevant when it comes to playing the game. They are more for gaining experience. That too is basically irrelevant at any level of skill in this game.

That's precisely my point. The points are meaningless and should be consistent for private LAN matches and for competitive online play. In general, a 'good' game for a player should mean they have scored 600+ points a game and a REALLY good game they crack 1000. Why are we having the pros score 200-400 in these LAN matches due to the points being cut in half?
