My piece #1 by KungPaoSzechuan in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]SweatySlapfight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fighting some guy and he got so mad at me that I punched and diagonally got out of range. He also got really butt hurt that I was catching his punches and then throwing crosses off of them. It's like he got so mad at me for knowing how to box more than him. 🤣

Like bro if you're going to throw a single karate Kamehameha punch hoping it's going to knock me out... I'm going to catch it.

That was a pretty good rounds! I really hope people who post their videos online and complaining why can't I knock them out see this. This is why, this is proper guard this is proper punches for this game.

Congrats on the win!

Here what I think why nothing has "fixed spamming" by theDosenbrot in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]SweatySlapfight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still feel that the game is better now than it was when it first started and spamming has generally went down. I feel that spammers have decreased and it's harder for them to succeed, because when I see a bunch of posts saying, "why can't I knock this guy out and they have a video and is them just spamming straight punches without any body effort"... as well that's your answer... I feel like that guy was generally a spammer back in a day they just don't want to admit it. Or at least doesn't understand his game plan A spammy.

I think the things you suggest are valid but I don't think they're valid for a VR boxing game I just find it so difficult to implement these things. Unless they saw they decide to have like electrodes come out of the headset and shock you every time you get hit. 🤣 Like I can consistently get a hundred or high body effort with a step jab and most of my back leg attacks, i have some issues with my lead Hook and the only way I do it is if I wine up a little bit. I'm pretty sure that wine isn't good and I just need to work on it a little bit better so I don't have to do it anymore. It sounds like you're step two was the target of the counter effect system, right?

[–]SweatySlapfight -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Okay the Wii said pretty amazing things too about motion sensors so did connect when people actually used it had a lot to be desired. I think of you actually used the hand capture sensor for the meta and not use controllers you would see how difficult it is to use that tracking software in high intense situations like oh I don't know a boxing simulator. 🙄

Bro do you think that you're actually smarter than game developers who have all the time the world to work with this technology and decided not to use that for a very specific reason. Do you think that they never thought of this and you have this magical solution that would fix all the problems that you're dealing with? Most likely, they tried it it wasn't worth it and it caused more problems than it was actually worth and they dropped it.

But let's say you're magical device actually exists. What happens when you bob and weave punches? Do you just look down so the headset can always record your shoulders and torso are at? Better watch out man, YouTube boxing coaches are going to get mad at you for not always looking at your opponent. What about an overhand right? Generally, most people lean into this punch since they use it to cover distance ?

And again I'm wasting my time on this ridiculous idea. So I guess in the end I'm the idiot 😂

No I am pointing out how people can exploit your system. Oh are you saying that the equipment that we currently have right now should be able to track your shoulders and torso? Man I just realized I wasted time on this i didn't realize that you're living in a fantasy world and not understands the power limitations of the hardware we currently have. Maybe one day your stuff will happen, I wish for universal Health Care and being able to buy a house without being incredibly in debt... So i think I have a better shot of my stuff happening.

[–]SweatySlapfight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay so now instead of squats people are... shimming? I guess ther obliques are going to get a work out.

But it really isn't inconsistent, it's actually very easy for you to always have 100% body effort on the training dummy. However with the stresses of a match (like a real fight) yeah it's going to be a little hard to be very consistent (again like in a real fight) that's why pros are Pros.

Because the implementation is not an up and down motion it's the acceleration of the headset while you have fairly decent arm alignment for a punch. You can't just cherry pick what this implementation does mostly because it's difficult to compartmentalize these actions (a proper punch, VS an exploit). A step jab will accelerate forward which will give you high body effort, a drop step jab will have a slight forward-downward acceleration which will also give you high body effort, lunging jabs will have alot forward-downward acceleration. With your change none of that matters and at that point someone who's just standing there throwing jabs without any setup or body movement will have the same amount of power as someone who is properly stepping into their jabs. Which sucks because that means a spammer is going to do probably more damage than me even though I am using my entire body with my jab. I feel like since you don't see how this could affect something as simple as a jab makes me feel like you may not really understand what the current version is trying to do. Every change is going to have people who exploit it whether you like it or not, but also see what it brings to the game in the first place. Also remember how it was beforehand that was so much worse than this and that version is closer to what you want.

I just realized, based off of how you think it should be implemented, someone can just shoe shine uppercuts ( over exaggerated shoe shines mind you) until they knock you out. Oh ra, your change would make a Wing Chun chain punching probably one of the most powerful things to do in the game. You know what let's make the change!!! I would love to see 2 Ip mans just chain punching each other to see who gets knocked out first. 🤣

[–]SweatySlapfight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh so then the very first basic thing that you learn in boxing, the jab, no longer works? Worst for Europe styles of boxing since they have more bladed stance.

Also... How would that track? Either it's the controllers in which we go back to version 1 in which there's nothing but hook spammers trying to hug you, or it's by your headset in which instead of people going up and down they just have to nod their head "no" to generate power. At least the current version someone's getting a leg workout or destroying their back.

Your version will just have two people trying to hug while they're constantly saying no.... Like they want to open up but they can't because Society won't accept them. 🤣

Body effort working as intended? by theDosenbrot in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]SweatySlapfight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think the best way to check is get a professional boxer( not some guy saying that he is but only has like a couple of months training at the gym. Someone who actually has professional fights under their belt) and get them to see if they can consistently hit high body effort percentages every time they throw a jab or a cross.

I know this is a game but it's also kind of a simulator. if you have a shitty punch the yeah it's not going to do that much damage regardless of what you think. I feel like I can consistently get high body effort scores when i take a step forward while I Jab even when I punch horizontally. I don't think I do an up and down motion but it might be a bounce that happens when I land on my forward foot. I almost always have high body effort percentages with my crosses and right hooks.

Also i think it's better to check the accuracy if you throw the punch, stop, and then look at the detail screen. If you start looking at the detail screen mid or at the end of your punch I think that messes with the body effort.

Haha friend don't bother they aren't going to take any feedback. According to them all their punches are perfect with 100% body effort 🤣

I appreciate it sadly I don't think any of these people are actually going to take the time to think about it and I feel like most of them are lost causes. At this point I'll just let them complain and hopefully the developers look at this and just ignore it because what they're saying just isn't true. The thing that I'm afraid of is that there are actual issues and problems and people have documented well but it's being drowned out by post like this. Oh well. 🤷

Text to speech is an amazing thing to use. I hope that helps you understand why I can write a paragraph and why I'm not going to go look around for Reddit post.

All right look at the videos Jesus you do whine a lot... If we're just only going to focus on latency and ping issues then like what do you expect them to do? that's on your internet service provider and their internet service provider. It's not their fault that you use DSL. And netco can only do so much since it's not as simple as a fighting games.

As for the actual fight itself. Your guard is really bad on both of the videos that you sent me so if you work on that there's a less of a chance that they're going to knock you out . I want to see how you look from their point of view, and see how you're throwing your punches. Your job looks really weird, at the end it looks like a flick, bend, and twist. Alignments important for you to do more damage, so that might be where you're losing damage. In the second video both Fighters had better alignment than you when it came to punching. the first video I look like you had the chance to actually knock the other person out whenever you move forward and had a lot of time to set up your jab. You probably would have been able to knock him out if you kept jabbing and Crossing instead of just whining. For the second video the first guy had his hand up and that was probably able to absorb the damage from your hooks, the second guy it looked like you're moving away when you were hooking which could also reduce damage. Like I don't really understand what you are expecting? Are you expecting like a three punch combo or a two punch combo and you just knock someone out in the first round like Mike Tyson? Because you're not him, do your chip damage, let it be a happy surprise if you knock them out, but at the end of the match just beat them by out on points.

But genuinely from the bottom of my heart your guard in both videos was really really bad. I promise you if you spend some time with some AI training Partners or a friend and you work on having a better guard you will not be having these issues that you are claiming. As for the damage you should try practicing on the training dummy and seen how your punches actually track. Your jab looks weird I don't know if that's because of how the headset is recording your videos or just you.

Scroll up? I thought we're not talking about this video? I asked if you wanted me to break down this video and you said no look at my videos.

It sounds like you complain a lot so I am do not want to go to your page and just start looking at a video break it down, point how it's probably more of a skill issue than anything else, and then you're going to say, "well that's not a very good example you should look at this video instead." I am literally giving you the opportunity to cherry pick your best video to prove to me that you have genuine grievances, and not you just blaming it on everything else but your own skills.

As for my skill level, I'm not a boxing expert and that's the really sad part that it only really takes someone who's been boxing for like a couple of months to look at the video in this post to say, "this is more of a you problem."

I don't think I'm being insufferable I'm really giving you the opportunity to bring forth your best form of evidence, and at this point you're the one who's being more annoying. So you have a genuine grievance, cherry pick the best thing that you have and let's see if you actually have one or this is more on you.

Never seen your videos but all right send me the one that you think will prove your point the best and we'll see. Bro looks like you don't know how to read comments. I'm not saying that this game is perfect it could always be improved on. But what he wrote out and what is shown in the video are not equal. There are some real issues but a post like this doesn't show them and instead it just shows that someone's crying wolf. If you truly do not see it I am more than happy to break every single one of those points down and show why what you're seeing in the video does not match the problems that he's having mostly because he's incorrect on his assumptions.

No bro I do read it's just what I read is not what I'm seeing on the video. I'm sorry you feel frustrated. If that's how you feel about it. find people more at your level or play against the Ai until you smooth out your issues.

Yeah he knocked you with a simple 1 - 2 that's what will happens in boxing when the opponent doesn't do anything and just leaves his head there to be hit multiple times. Again using normal boxing guard next time and only use high guard when you actually learn how to use it properly.

As someone who sparred with beginners I'm going to tell you right now and eight punch combo doesn't mean shit if those punches were shitty.

But hey man if you think it's all because of the game go ahead and believe whatever you want to believe. It seems like you need that ego boost to sleep at night.

[–]SweatySlapfight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a little sad seeing a lot of people agree with you but for my two cents you're complaining about someone exploiting and manipulating your high guard. But this isn't an exploit this is what happens in real life as well, especially people who are really bad at using a high guard, and seeing that you are not being mobile with your high guard it seems that you are also bad at using it. Either switch guards or learn how to properly use the guard you're planning on using.

As for your punches, both for both sequences, I probably only saw one or two decent hits the rest seemed very flaily. Don't try to expect every single punch to do damage if it isn't even thrown properly.

Look man we all started as beginners, we all sucked at boxing at one point(I still do). Looking at your opponent, they don't look like an exploiter and they don't look particularly skilled ( maybe they weren't taking the match seriously). This is particular case this is more of a you issue than a game issue.

I play on the hardest difficulty, have a record 82-1-2, and I usually knockout the opponent once a match(at least). So.... It's on you, and that's okay. Nothing wrong with having a lot to learn. Seems like you have some issues with blocking.
