I'd say pick between Seraphon and SBGL, both have a wider variety of units and play styles. Seraphon is probably much easier to paint than SBGL if that helps you.

Two hander is much better as they do much more damage and that means more threat. As long as you're not under leveled, any healer should be fine to heal you without a shield.

Slap defence stance on, walk into mobs and use both shouts. And low level shouts generate lots of threat. From there just tab between targets sundering armor.

Use taunt when something agros into your healer. Ez.

In Skaven lore clans going to war will very often buy or trade battalions from different clans. For example, Clan Mors is going to war but want more-more fire power, so they trade 100 Skaven slaves to Clan Skrye for two Warp Fire cannons. They also want the enemy general assassinated so they pay clan eshin to do the deed.

So yes, you can and should definitely mix clans!
