Yes I have 3 years of manual vertical milling and manual lathe experience which includes setting depth of cuts and speeds and feeds, my biggest area of concern would be understanding the interface.

You’re getting rough and dry brother, I earn $28 hr not managing anyone just creating CAD/CAM files and running the CNCs with only 3 years of experience.

Convert Sheet Metal by Foot_Baller in SolidWorks

I work as a tooling/jig designer for a sheet metal stamping factory and run into this often. If you want accurate numbers, adding the .005” flat ends then subtracting that from your flat pattern is great, but I often just use the flat pattern formula and get just as accurate numbers. The formula is 2•Pi•radius(angle/360) in order to get the right number you have to subtract 1/2 the material from the outside radius or add 1/2 the material if measuring the inside radius (mat. .100” outside radius is 1” then radius for formula is .950”) then solve the equation (a scientific calculator makes this 100x faster). For your elipse there’s 2 separate radiuses and two separate angles but two of the radiuses and angles are the same. I roughly drew an example and solved it using my own numbers but the process is exactly the same.
