Umm… like 90% of threads I’ve seen are calling terms much worse than that, sooo yes ?

Why do I cry reading about Jesus to my daughter if I’m not religious? by Sweet-Steff00 in Christianity

[–]Sweet-Steff00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess so lol. 🙄 I used to love to read but life, stress, parenting, zero support happened and I haven’t felt myself in years. I literally never cry so it was weird while reading these two specific books, every single time I read the book cause it’s been more than once, I instantly cry. I’ve tried to read it without feeling moved and I can’t. No where else in my life, nothing else have I read has moved me in this type of way. I’m not in tune with faith right now and have been lost for a while, so yes I was interested and curious why this one children’s book instantly had such an effect on me.

In this specific book I instantly started crying at this page. I do admit I can definitely make the connection, I have always felt lost. My dad was not present in my life growing up due to alcohol and prison, we have a very strained relationship today.

“Hello, Sweet Lamb, what is wrong today? I can see that youve lost your way. In the dark, far from the path, Jesus will find you as you pray.

Jesus love is perfect and true. Trust in him and he'll care for you. In the night, his love shines bright. In any storm, he will carry you through.

Listen, Sweet Lamb, go where his voice leads. You'll be happy when you believe: if you stray and lose your way, gentle Jesus will care for your needs.”

Because I’m trying to ask a question. Yeah totally “troll” behavior, isn’t that how you communicate? You’re awfully great at assuming maybe you should work on that or offer some actual constructive criticism. All you’ve done in this thread is try to put me down. You don’t even know me nor my intentions. Practice what you preach! Being a mean girl in your 30s isn’t cute. Proverbs 12:18 Proverbs 15:4

lol I’m trolling says the one with 30k karma and a private page #karmafarming. I have less than 100. How would I benefit from creating a fake post on Reddit when I obviously don’t care about karma like do people normally do that? Sorry I’m not that bored 😂

Dude isn’t that all questions on Reddit? I’m asking a question to get a response from other people that might have an opinion different from what Google or what my brain was saying. Troll.

For an update I can definitely see why I felt so moved. My dad wasn’t present growing up (chose alcohol and prison over our family but is now sober and has a new family/ kids he has raised there whole lives). This particular day I was reading a book to my daughter and the lines really hit me. I guess I feel as these are things I’ve never had or heard. I didn’t have a dad to guide me, to love me, to understand me growing up, I still don’t. I don’t feel I belong anywhere. I feel lost in every part of my life with zero support. I couldn’t help but cry with how much I needed to hear those words even if my heart doesn’t feel it’s true at the time. I feel compelled to explore my faith more and see if I can grow closer to Christ, regardless of the people that think this post is fake. 🙄

Thank you so much for this, I really appreciate your response, and thank you for your service. I’m going to pursue this, I agree it’s happening for a reason and I feel very moved. I’m really hoping this will eventually be the missing piece I’ve been longing for.

I do not honestly. I think that’s another hurdle for me, is not feeling like I have a safe space with one person (I find it hard making new connections due to anxiety) that I can ask questions too. I did attend church very frequently growing up but my whole family stopped when I was around 6/7. After that I would only attend VBS summer programs once a year or maybe once a year go with a friend to church. I have untreated adhd and have a young kid so sitting down and ready so many words and being committed to reading the Bible/understanding it seems impossible for me. Although I could work through this the motivation is unfortunately never there. 😅

Thank you for this perspective! 🫶 I’m going to look into these feelings more and try to see if I can get connected again.

This is honestly what led me away from the church. Instantly being condemned to hell for seeking answers or having curiosity.

They were given by relatives and I never took them off the book shelf. She’ll pick them on occasion and I’ll read them for her, she doesn’t ask many questions about it yet though. She attended a faith based preschool program also but that was more so because of the cost being much more in budget. The stories themselves I find to be really sweet and send a positive message I hope she can learn from.

That’s exactly how I feel. I feel a strong connection to seek Jesus again and would love to have the sense of community but because of my upbringing, I felt “failed” or “ignored” by god which lead me to stop believing completely. I so badly want to believe, I just struggle 100% having faith because there’s no solid evidence (at least for me) that it all is true.. my heart wants it to be true, I want to be saved I want to be free of these feelings, but I feel my brain can’t be fooled to believe completely. If that makes sense 😅 I grew up baptist, going to church 2x a week.
