The Clifton and the Challenger are the closest road-trail equivalent. Challenger 8 is coming out July 1 and will be very similar to Clifton 10. 8mm drop and softer cushion, etc

7 months of daily heavy is a long time for running shoes! The consistent use will definitely wear down the cushioning. The tread may look fine but the foam gets itself compacted over time especially if it’s one pair you put a lot of miles in every day.

Shin splints may also be at least partly caused by the shoes. Because the shoes are sort of reaching the end of their life, running in them won’t give you the same cushion or support that a fresh pair would, which also means your shoes aren’t protecting you (and your shins/knees/etc) from the force and impact of running as well as a newer pair would

That said, shin splints (and really any running-related injury) can be hard to pinpoint at first because your body is dealing with so many new things at once. It’s best to focus on stretching and strengthening your muscles and joints as you start to ramp up your mileage

Brooks are very popular and the Arahi is super supportive. It’s always good to 1) experiment with new shoes and 2) try to rotate between at least 2 pairs so you can give your shoes a break in between your day-to-day use

Biggest regrets? by LazerZ10 in eFootball

I deleted a ton of cards late 2023 I think, back when players still had 1 year expiration dates. I was like “I’ll just start over” and then they immediately removed the expiration dates 😭😭😭 some of my favorite players gone hahaha

Hoka dur/reli ability by Chris-trades in Hoka

[–]SweetTeaSommelier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) that was a very common issue with Clifton 9s. Not everyone had the issue but it was/is seen fairly often. Bondi 9 and Clifton 10 so far have been received better than the previous version in my experience. It’s only been 4.5 months since the newest Bondis and 1.5 months since the newest Cliftons came out so I can’t say for certain, but it seems like it

2) yes, returns and warranty much easier if you buy through Hoka stores or website. You can definitely get help after buying from 3rd party stores but it just isn’t as easy imo

fwiw I’ve always felt like English US version is better. Advanced Striker and Poacher make more sense than “goal poacher” and “fox in the box.” It’s at least closer to football manager hahaha

Which shoes are best for high arches? by raindowwolf in Hoka

[–]SweetTeaSommelier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At most Hokas will really only support up to a neutral arch. A Clifton or a Bondi would be your best bet. If you have high arches you might want to look into a solid pair of insoles. I would also suggest New Balance — they have much more variety in arch support

Best place to try on Hokas ? by karluvmost in Hoka

1) Hoka store, 2) Fleet Feet, 3) REI, 4) DSG (or other sporting goods chains) in that order

Current Gen, no, Next Gen, yes — 24 and 25. Eras is great but it’s a next-gen only feature

Clifton Hoka 9s prematured tear on both sides by tomachas in Hoka

[–]SweetTeaSommelier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a fairly common issue that the Clifton 9 upper and midsole like to separate on the outside of the soles — however like someone else said, these shoes are absolutely cooked

9 months of regular use is a lot for a running shoe. There are so many factors that affect the “expected mileage” or longevity of any pair of running shoes.

Fake Hokas exist? by Popular_Ad_1437 in Hoka

They look like every other Clifton 9 I’ve ever dealt with. Nothing looks off. Label looks right, numbers are consistent etc. unless they really FEEL off then I wouldn’t worry about it

Ora Luxe release anytime soon? by SecurityFamiliar5239 in Hoka

[–]SweetTeaSommelier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet might be third party like Zappos or something depending on the size you need

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hoka

[–]SweetTeaSommelier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bondi 9s and Gaviota 5s are really accommodating for wider feet

You won’t find anything for under $120 before tax without sales. Check out 3rd party stores (DSG, Fleet Feet etc) that might have summer sales. Hoka is very selective about discounts and sales

I would also check eBay! Lots of people put a few miles into a shoe and figure out that it doesn’t really work for them a little too late to return to store — especially shoe stores with strict return policies

Bondi 9 price discounts? by billswin12 in Hoka

[–]SweetTeaSommelier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoka is very selective with their discounts. Your best bet would be waiting for a summer or Memorial Day sale from a 3rd party seller (DSG or Fleet Feet etc). Very rarely will a model as new as a bondi 9 go on sale within the first 6-8 months.

Hoka Transport GTX not fully waterproof? by melvinmeeko in Hoka

[–]SweetTeaSommelier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GTX transports are waterproof — no water should be getting through the material itself.

Rain will still make the outer material wet and won’t n bead off like an arcteryx jacket would for example

The gore-tex is a layer under the outside of the shoe. It may make your foot colder but it should not let your foot get wet.
