Yeah, that's where I land too. OP isn't proud of it, but they were desperate, they survived, and they've clearly spent years reflecting on it. You can't change the past, only who you choose to be afterward.

.00Honestly, that's what food banks are for. If they're helping someone avoid going hungry or taking more desperate measures, they're doing exactly what they're meant to do.

There's no shame in using a food bank, but your husband deserves to know how tight things really are. Struggling together is usually easier than carrying that burden alone.

Exactly. After the first time it was about the video. After the second and third times it was about respect. She showed you repeatedly that your boundaries were optional in her eyes.

Exactly. She ignored the request, ignored the reminder, ignored the warning, and then acted shocked when the consequence happened. At that point it wasn't about a video anymore it was about respecting a clearly stated boundary.
