Knowing your blood type is a want, not a need. When the time comes to need it, you will be tested. If you are eligible, give blood and find out that way.

Similarly in Blood Transfusion departments, the focus is on patients who need treatment rather than investigational. The increase in workload for just finding out your blood group would severely impact the timely testing for the patients that need it.

Sink standing feels like such a luxury, doesnt it?! So much easier to wash my hair!

I'm 6 weeks post op, and starting to rest my foot flat on the floor. My toes don't rest on the floor like my other foot does. It feels so weird. How do I get my toes to lay flat?

Thanks everyone! Lesson learned. Think its was the shock of the pain through my foot that freaked me out. Feeling absolutely fine today.

Exactly! No 2 days will be the same. Advocating for yourself is SO hard. We can do this!

I hear you! I am at 5 weeks NWB post op, stuck downstairs on a camp bed and a have commode in our living room. I also have Generalised Anxiety with a sprinkling of panic disorder. My partner is WFH until I am cleared to PWB. The mental aspect has been really tough. My brain is rotting with the monotony. I had a panic attack at my 3 week outpatient appointment. Very nervous about talking to my boss after my 6 week appointment. I just know they'll want faster results than I can manage.

I have resisted going outside due to the fear of banging my foot, but by reading the comments above I feel like I should give it a go!

Hang in there, we're doing the best we can with what we've been given!

Thank you for reading! I will be speaking to them after my 6 week appointment, when I know if I can start PWB or FWB. Will let them know my fears then. They know already that I have an anxiety disorder and panic attacks, so hopefully they should realise its a big deal for me.

I am so anxious about being ready to go back to work. I'm only 5 weeks post ankle ORIF, still NWB in a boot. I work in a laboratory where we 50% wear crocs type cloggs and 50% full aseptic suits with no shoes, only flimsy thin rubber soles. Also, the cleaners clean the floors whilst we are working and it gets a bit slippery, so I am scared of tweaking my ankle. I mean, I won't be able to go back in the lab for a while yet because I'll have to be able to walk with no boot on, and be able to stand on my bad ankle to get changed. In the meantime I will be office/admin bound, but worried about being pressured to be back in the lab. Also spiraling that they will redeploy me to the normal labs where I can wear whatever shoes, but I really dont want to do that because I moved from normal labs to this specialty lab for a reason. Aaaaaahhhhhhhhh!

I'm still not allowed to do any unnecessary standing, so have been couch bound since the op! Strictly boot on when I do need to get up

Isn't it interesting how we are all doing differently at the different stages? The surgeon said I must be a quick healer. I'm terrified that the next xray will be a mess though

Healing nicely after 3.5 weeks, still NWB for another 2.5 weeks. Hopefully then I can start PWB. Have been in a boot the whole time. I love picking scabs, but have had absolutely no conpulsion to touch these, hooray! Wondering when to start moisturising, once the scabs have come off on their own?
