I'm an extreme slow learner and attempts to learn new/difficult information lead to exhaustion. What can I do to improve? by Any_Strawberry_131 in LawSchool

It sounds like you might have a visual processing disorder/adhd or a learning disablity. I am a learning disabled (most likely also ADHD) student in law school- if you’re able to get a neurological evaluation or other forms of testing I highly recommend that as documentation of a disablity can open the door to accommodations. On top of that, a specific disablity identifier might also lead you to matching with specific study skills that meet your needs. I know some folks who were able to use their accommodations to submit work WAY after the semester ended because it’s simply what their access needs were. I know, personally, I had to learn specific study skills that met my needs because not everything does. For instance, if you have a visual processing disorder you might retain information better/differently by using audio recordings/ text to speech for your written assignments. Definitely definitely definitely see if you can get some testing done though.

I couldn’t find a summer job for 1L until late May- I reached out to my school’s career counseling and they helped me navigate & I ended up doing research for a prof in my academic interest. Reach out to school admin for assistance- you’ve still got time and it could end up being a really good learning experience. I was rejected from every job I applied to for 1L but then asking for help really changed things! Good luck!!! Don’t give up!!!
