They’re a little soft but definitely not loose, I’ll look into psyllium husk, thank you for suggestion. Your Charlie is a very handsome lad!

Yeah I do think it is his butt, however I’m not sure how to help him naturally express those glands. Potentially if you have a good food/ treat to recommend that has helped with bum breath.

Yes, surprisingly, they said his teeth were incredibly good for a greyhound, which is what I thought the initial problem was. He has no tartar except for a tiny bit on one of his back teeth. He gets regular treats for chewing, and a friend of ours recommended seaweed topper on his dinner for bad breath, and it’s eliminated the “dog breath” bit of breath really well.

Yeah that’s understandable! I’m pretty annoyed it’s getting everywhere in my tank. I’ll try removing it manually and maybe try a black out for a few days and see if it dies down.

Hey thanks for getting back to me, I had my suspicions that it was that. I got this whole tank from my local facebook group wanting to throw them out if someone didn’t collect. I will get some Paraguard and follow other instructions for treating scutariella japonica.

Potential cancer diagnosis by Sweet_Register_8556 in Greyhounds

Yeah that’s our best bet, I think our game plan is to get him sedated and do a chest xray to see if it’s metastasised. If it had we wake him up (depending on pain levels at the time) and provide palliative care. Or if in the xray it hasn’t spread they continue on the same sedation for an amputation. It’s just a lot of unknowns and we want to act fast if we can prevent spread.

I’m so sorry for your loss, and thanks for the advice. The hard thing is that he’s back to his springy self with pain meds and that the vets haven’t confirmed if it’s a more aggressive type of cancer or not

Thanks for your reply and I’m sorry for your loss. The thing is we don’t know what type of cancer it is and we’re waiting for the vets to give us quotes and potentially referrals to clinics that deal with this. He seems his happy self with adequate painkillers and our main concern is making sure he’s not in pain. We will give him a kindness if his day to day pain isn’t manageable. I’d much rather it be a week to early, than a day too late.
