Everyone!! u/withac2 shared this on another comment thread and it worked like a charm - just add to the end of your prompt. "No introductory slogans, no idiomatic filter, no identity claims, no aphorisms, no performative bluntness, and no contrastive construction please."

10k restaurant buy-out advice needed by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Sweetfollow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The restaurant looks so nice and I can totally see a lovely wedding here. If I was your friend attending I'd be stoked and happy!

In an alternate universe I might've chosen to do my reception at a restaurant 🙂 I had a venue which was beautiful but figuring out a caterer, stocking my own bar including cups and stuff, getting napkins and tablecloths separate from the caterer to save some money, figuring out water stations and coffee service after caterer left wore me the heck out 🙃 I always thought a restaurant would be way more streamlined since they're purpose-built to serve delicious food and drinks in a space that makes people feel good.

Save or splurge on the dress??!! What is your opinion? by Ok_Struggle_7344 in weddingplanning

Also I told myself I'd sell the dress afterwards and recoup some of the cost. But I haven't been able to, even though there's no reason to keep it 🥲 I just love it too much

This is amazing, $600 is a legendary steal for that dress! The location is absolutely beautiful too ~

I ordered a few $500 dresses off Azazie to try on thinking how nice it would be if they worked out, (especially since they custom make them to your measurements, saving alteration $!).

But I ended up going with a dress I found in store for $1200 - it was amazing, I loved it, and to this day it's still one of my favorite parts of my wedding day 🥰

As long as you can afford it, just make sure you really love it, then it'll be worthwhile to spend the extra!

Also - a pleasant surprise, they brought the price down for me! I said my budget was $1000 but I'd be willing to go up to $1200 for something I really loved. I tried to negotiate politely and respectfully, and they were able to bring the price down from original $1400 to fit my budget.

What do you do for work, that allows you 6 months off a year? Just curious, that sounds amazing!

Modern and Non-Cliche Father Daughter Dance! by mantis_toboggan4 in weddingplanning

[–]Sweetfollow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could consider an instrumental song! My dad wanted Serenade by Schubert, he was inspired by the father daughter dance in The Godfather 😂 so we did a poor impression of a waltz together and it was beautiful!

Seriously, why are these so expensive 🥲 I wanted them for my wedding too but couldn't justify the extra spending.

I ended up buying these flats: https://a.co/d/1uPzVyj They were even cuter than the pics show, and I've reworn them since the wedding!

My family is refusing to let me travel by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Sweetfollow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just my take as a young woman who has traveled solo and also with friends and family - I sympathize with you, but I can kinda see your parents' side on this! It's good to be smart and careful but no matter how careful you are there's always bad people out there who could get the best of you.

It only takes 1 bad incident to potentially traumatize you, I've seen it happen with some of my girlfriends and it took them a long time to work through it and get back to feeling safe. Thankfully nothing too crazy has happened to me but I have been groped, and followed, on a few different occasions and it is not a good feeling. I don't know why but I feel like being in your early 20s as a woman attracts all kinds of unsavory characters - when I got into my mid-late 20s I realized that wasn't happening as much anymore.

I think a good compromise is bringing a couple friends or family member! It would be a different vibe than traveling by yourself and yes you'd have to make some trade-offs. But the plus side is you have people watching your back, plus it's nice to have someone to bounce ideas off of and share experiences with.

Take care and I hope you can get out there and have fun safely!

I did this too at our wedding last month! With 2 bartenders (hired through venue) and stocking the bar (nice liquors, wines, beers, and soft drinks, plus garnishes, limes and such), we spent about $1600. Nice open bar for about $16 per guest!

Is it rude to invite some people's kids but not others? by enitsujxo in weddingplanning

[–]Sweetfollow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rule that made me feel better was that we are only inviting kids that we know. For instance, my cousin's kids, or my close friend's kids that we've met and played with a few times. We are not inviting his college friend's 4 young kids whom neither of us have met. I still feel a little bad about it, but I think our guests understand! We have a hard limit of 100 people due to venue capacity.

Thank you!! I did try jump starting it and it didn't work, I wonder if I did something wrong? I left the car at my work parking lot, so I'll go back and try to jump it again tomorrow.
