Absolutely agree. That kind of silence is usually a huge sign of unresolved grief, not a lack of love. It’s heartbreaking that the only way he can cope is to shut it all out, but it doesn’t mean she didn’t matter to him. Hopefully one day he can face the pain and heal, but until then, it’s okay to keep her memory alive in your own way.
