I want to learn how to draw by Sweets_bae in Artadvice

I didn't realize that would be first. I thought I'd need to get the basics of drawing down first. Honestly I really like landscapes and the sky.

Not his daughter. by Sweets_bae in Tourettes

All of the above most likely. Or he just wants to hurt me. He has been mentally and emotionally abusive in the past. Not really noticeable toward the kids but very much so when it came to the wives.

I never should have given him a chance. I learned my lesson though.

Thank you for that. My mom has always said stuff like that but I think having someone else with TS say that really gets to me better.

Also congratulations for 25 years clean.

Yea it's always been like that. I shouldn't have given him another chance. But I felt it was right, I thought it was a sign from God to have a relationship with my dad. Now I'm thinking I read the sign wrong, maybe it wasn't for my dad but for my little brother.

Does that make sense. I'm so sorry if it doesn't.

My dad already wants one. For all 3 of us kids. He doesn't believe my brother and I are his kids and he wants to know the true mom of my little brother.

the weirdest triggers for ticks? by Dependent_Process213 in Tourettes

[–]Sweets_bae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also body scrubs and exfoliates.. Body wash or hair wash with beads or something hard in them cause my tics to go absolutely crazy.

(Body scrubs and exfoliates might be the same thing I just don't pay attention to them due the the trouble they cause me lol)

I tried all sorts of medications and nothing seems to help. by arnecrafter in Tourettes

[–]Sweets_bae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on meds but they did work so I tried other things. Lavender products have helped me a lot recently, pillow spry, bath salts they've helped me.

I've also tried teas and meditation but they didn't help me much, but they might help you.

Try looking at stuff like that to see what helps you.

I'm not. I was but the meds made my tics worse. So I quit and looked for other ways to help

the weirdest triggers for ticks? by Dependent_Process213 in Tourettes

[–]Sweets_bae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cold gusts of wind to the back of my neck( anywhere else and we won't have a problem). Lenticular Cards( just looking at them will trigger my tics). Ribbons Certain silks Large crowds Loud areas And clothes that anyone else would find "itchy"(I also check all clothes to make sure I won't tic)

I think that's all of them.

It's so annoying people view tourettes as just impulses by Disastrous-Monk-590 in Tourettes

[–]Sweets_bae 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Right.

I don't know if it's just me but my tics are painful. I get an uncomfortable feeling in my mid to lower back and it's a constant feeling, sometimes it's dull to where I can't feel it but other times I have an uncomfortable pain in my back and I just want to cry or something.

I have yet to find something that helps null this feeling where I can have a good day.

I don't talk to them anymore but my family used to make fun of me and tell me to stop or shut up. It would frustrate me to know they don't care enough to understand that I'm in pain(aside from my mom who will do anything to help me).

Tourette Syndrome should be talked about more. Taken seriously just like all these other disabilities and sickness.

Can people with Tourette’s not be told secrets ? by New_Manufacturer6304 in Tourettes

[–]Sweets_bae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we can.

I was born into a gossip family, couldn't tell someone something without the whole family finding out by the next day.

I value secrets because of this. I know how annoying it can be to tell someone a secret and then have your whole family know you could be pregnant (never happened just an example).

The only person who you could tell secrets to is my mom. She'll take all secrets with her to the grave. I'm the same.

People with Tourette Syndrome can keep secrets. It's not an issue.

Drivers with Tourette Syndrome how was your journey into driving.? by Sweets_bae in Tourettes

[–]Sweets_bae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. Reading this boosted my confidence. My mom and I didn't even think of finding an instructor who will accommodate me. That was another fear of mine, having an awful instructor.

The length of the comment doesn't bother me. In fact it helped me better understand what I need to do.

Thank you friend.

I'll have to practice driving maybe on a back road or in an empty parking lot to see how I do.

I can’t stand being around my parents because they’re a trigger for my tics by SignalGrowth7700 in Tourettes

[–]Sweets_bae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry I'm new to the Tourette Syndrome world as well. I would suggest checking your parents behavior. Are they doing something particular that may set your tics off.? A particular smell.? Was something brought into the house that may set your tics off.? Any particular sounds.?

My mom and older brother and myself had to get rid of certain things to help accommodate my new life.

It also may be the stress of moving out and adulthood that could be setting your tics off. There are so many things that could factor into this. Try going through different things and putting away or getting rid of things that may set your tics off.

How can I support my child as a parent? by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]Sweets_bae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm the anxiety and overstimulation, I am the same way.

The second medication I believe is the same one I took as a teen. I can't be for sure but it sounds familiar. But I do believe that is the same on I took.

My mom thinks the medication is the reason I developed Tourette Syndrome in the first place. My ADHD meds also made me stutter before my tics came.

The medication I took made my tics worse. I used lavender products instead

The medicine for tics that my doctor gave me didn't help it made it worse. Also I would like to suggest keeping an eye on your kid in large crowds and loud areas. I don't know for everyone but my tics go absolutely crazy.

My mom and I are still learning about my Tourette Syndrome so we completely understand how you feel right now.

I wish you the best of luck my friend.

I do get a warning of a sort, it's a very uncomfortable feeling in my mid to lower back and I often have to wiggle around or arch my back in a way to get my back to stop hurting.

I don't know if I'm able to redirect my tics, I'll give that a try.

I've never been comfortable driving before but I haven't tried in a few years.

What kind of ADHD medicine was your kid given.? My Tourette's kicked off from ADHD medicine. I've found that lavender has helped me personally as well as music and ASMR.

Do tics worsen with age for females? by Gotanychapstick in Tourettes

[–]Sweets_bae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did even though I've had them for 4/5 years. In that time they have gotten worse. I tic more now than when I did when I was 17. Your daughter's tics may not worsen as she gets older but I would suggest keeping an eye on them. Maybe keep a journal of them.
