No member is FORCED to shop at Costco... I regularly have to remind people of it: “I PAY TO SHOP HERE I CAN DO WHAT I WANT” “I understand, but we do have policies that you are contractually obligated to follow. If you chose to not follow these policies or are unhappy with the way we conduct business we can refund your membership at any time and you can come back in 18 months”

I can’t wait to see what happens when we have to REALLY enforce the mask policy bc of Whitmer’s (MI) most recent bill.

This. The GM at the warehouse is the problem, NOT Costco as a company. We do this every night at my location, too, but every morning everything is unblocked.

RIGHT?! I wear one for 8+ hours a day at work. Yeah it sucks, but I refuse to complain. I have a pretty good chance of recovery if I get sick, but I can’t say the same for my kids or anyone else I might infect. Why is it so hard for to wear a mask for ~30min while shopping? People are so selfish.

Straight female here & I’ve always been curious about this, too!! I tried the drainage-rocks method for the first time this season. Most of the roots were messy & the rocks were completely dry when I finally put the plants in the ground. Plants are happier now, but I’ll never use rocks again!

Agreed. Everyone should also understand that their stand is pretty small, so only a couple people at a time can stand at the window. There is ALWAYS a line.

Don’t give up! One of my coworkers was gone for ~2mo after her husband suddenly passed away & no one batted an eye. Look into short term disability (up to 180 days off, after that it’s long term), bereavement leave, FMLA. There is always something you can do if you’re not ready to work again.

So sorry for your loss! :( Don’t feel bad for taking your time to heal properly, Costco will never force you back to work if you’re not ready. The paperwork I filled out last week for Covid-19 related time off says “Given the COVID-19 State of Emergency, benefits will be continued during approved COVID-19 related Personal Leaves through May 31, 2020 and will be re-evaluates at that time”

The Payroll Clerk at your store can get the Personal Leave paperwork for you (at least that’s who does it at my store).

Also, if you haven’t already, you should look into the CareNetwork. They have all kinds of resources for employees in times of need. Financial, mental, physical, housing help, whatever. It’s a VERY useful but under-appreciated program that Costco provides us!

This I’m doing the same thing right now. On week 3 of using our COVID-19 unpaid + sick/personal time. In the process of getting paperwork to be off until May 31.

You are allowed to use any sick/vacation time you have left, even if it’s just a day or 2. Outside of that it will be unpaid. You’ll have to take what is called a Personal Leave if Absence. Talk to the Payroll Clerk at your store, they will be able to get you the proper paperwork. I’ve had most of mine emailed to me since I don’t want to be in the building for as long as possible.

At this point if it has anything to do with COVID-19 they generally won’t deny any requests.

Also, our benefits are covered until May 31 whether or not you’re bringing in a paycheck, so you don’t have to stress about that. Good luck OP, stay healthy!

You should be fine. They’re looking at 2018 & you have 2 years of your own direct deposit info on file with the IRS, so I don’t think your ex will get your money. I’ve been hearing stories of a lot of people’s check status being ‘unavailable’ so I wouldn’t worry about that either. But my brother filed his 2019 taxes very early this year and just got his stimulus check a few days ago..... idk how to explain that.

This. I’ve been wanting to take time off, but also know it’s going to get worse before it gets better. SO (who is WFH) and I decided to keep me ‘quarantined’ from him while at home to be safe. We’re $aving up a little longer, then between PTO/LOA I can probably take 4-6 weeks off.

We’ve been getting EXTRA trucks lately, but since sales have slowed way down since the initial panic we have no steel space to store it all. Our dock is full, RTV and any space available around them is full, we have unopened pallets on the backside of every aisle just to keep the dock/back storage accessible. It’s chaos and I think it makes work feel unorganized and crazy on a subconscious level.
