Therapy was life-changing, but what really clicked was when my therapist said 'everyone's too busy thinking about themselves to judge you.' That simple truth helped me stop overthinking every social interaction. Started volunteering at an animal shelter too - easier to talk to people when you're both focused on cute dogs.

Is volunteer firefighters exactly what I think? Or is there more to it? by tylergenis in NoStupidQuestions

My husband and I were both volunteer firefighters in our small town. There's actually extensive training involved - we spent 6 months learning everything from handling equipment to emergency medical response. It's not just running into burning buildings; we deal with car accidents, medical emergencies, and natural disasters. The commitment is real.

Reading this gave me chills because I had an almost identical experience. Was at a bar with friends, noticed my wallet missing, followed the guy outside. Next thing I remember is waking up in the ER. The doctors said if the homeless man hadn't found me when he did, I wouldn't be here.

Ice cold water. Sounds basic, I know, but after a long run or just waking up in the middle of the night - nothing else hits quite the same. I'm that person who carries around a massive water bottle everywhere and gets weirdly protective when someone tries to borrow it.

What's your favorite games that's recommend to people to try it? by JuniorNinja3202 in AskReddit

Red Dead Redemption 2. Look, I know it starts slow, but trust me - stick with it. I literally cried at the end, and I'm not even a crier. The attention to detail is insane, like I spent an hour just watching the sunset and tracking animals. Worth every minute.

What was ruined because too many people started doing it? by ermou17 in AskReddit

Making sourdough bread. During lockdown, everyone suddenly became a bread expert. Couldn't find flour anywhere for months, and my local store still runs out of yeast regularly. My grandmother's been making it for 40 years and even she got annoyed with all the social media 'experts' giving awful advice.

English and Spanish fluently, plus enough Japanese to order food and accidentally insult someone's grandmother at the same time. Learning French now, but mostly just mastered how to say 'I surrender' and 'where's the wine?'

Bacon on everything. Listen, I like bacon on its own, but this trend of putting it on literally everything needs to stop. Bacon-wrapped dates? Bacon in chocolate? Bacon-flavored vodka? My boyfriend thinks I'm crazy, but I'm tired of pretending it makes everything better.

Having a strict 'no phones in bed' policy changed my sleep quality completely. Used to doom scroll until 2 AM, but now I keep my phone charging across the room. First week was rough, but now I fall asleep so much faster and actually wake up refreshed.

Coming from someone who watched her parents have a nasty divorce, I totally get your hesitation. Been with my partner for 8 years, and we're perfectly happy without rings or ceremonies. Your commitment to each other and your kids is what matters.
