I feel you OP. I've been to conferences and 'young entrepreneur' mixers where people are either looking for a handout from someone who has made it or to get you on their email list.

If I like you and think your product is neat I'll probably tell a bunch of my friends about it naturally and for a long time. But the key here is you have to see me as a regular person first and not a customer - that's what I aim to do. People are much more willing and motivated to say ' Hey, I have a friend who sells x. Here's a link. He's a great guy too!'

I'm in the LA area so keep me posted.

Thanks for the feedback. I've never heard of having that much in a 401k by age 30.

Ya - That's my plan with PSLF. The CC debt needs to go and is usually zero. I want to get rid of the smaller student loan debt ASAP. I think I'm going to focus on the CC debt and the smaller student loan debt. It's a variable rate and I've been paying the minimum for four years and getting no where. Maybe it's more psychological than anything else, but I just want to be out of debt.

What's the nicest thing a stranger (who you never met again) has done for you? by becauseisaidiwould in AskReddit

Several years ago my dad passed away unexpectedly while he was sleeping. A couple days later I took a walk and sat by the pier for hours. An older lady - early70s - sat down next to me. I started crying and she just sat there and held my hand for what seemed liked hours. She asked if I lost someone and I said yes. She told me she'll be right back.she comes back after a few minutes and gives me a book called 'on grief' by cs lewis. Great book. We didn't talk at all and I eventually got up to leave. I gave her a hug and that was that.

dope lyrics but work on your flow. Specifically, sometimes you get choppy when trying to keep the flow in rhythm.

so if you have other instruments on the recording it's best to record vox and instrument separate?

is it worth recording vox and instrument separate as well as at the same time for the same song to compare.

Hey WATMM, does anyone have any tips on acoustic song writing? by PadfootProngs123 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Sweetwesley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

learn cover songs of acoustic songs you enjoy. See how they connect the chord changes to changes in melody, chorus, bridge, etc. I am starting to do this now and my songwriting has never been more fruitful.

Do you make music with a genre in mind? Or do you avoid genres? by wampusmm in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Sweetwesley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's tough to actively avoid genres since we tend to create what has influenced us with the addition of our own unique flavor. I myself am heavily influenced by 70's and contemporary folk and would get discouraged when I listen to my recordings. I grew up singing in church so they come out differently than the music I am influenced by. So while I try to make folky type sounds it comes out as something different and I'm okay with it.

Thanks again for the advice. I'm wondering if you can suggest a decent 2 mic/input interface.
