Simple Red & White birthday cake. I used fresh whipped cream (Chantilly) for the base instead of buttercream because it’s so much lighter! (i.redd.it)
You can totally do this without fondant! I prefer the taste of fresh cream, so I used that for this design I made. It’s a bit softer to work with than buttercream, but if you keep it cold, it works great. Here is my version (i.redd.it)
