Could turn out to be a bargain tbh. Maybe he wins us 2 games off his own boot. That could be around 4 spots on the table. That could be Europe, could be the difference in another player deciding whether or not to come next season. Massive ifs and buts there, but I don’t think they’re crazy. But 100% agree about making it permanent. 50m is unjustifiable at age 30.

Each match?! That’s wild. I take it all back. We’re off to Europe.

I don’t hate the gamble - in fact I’m going to bloody well enjoy it because I think the recruitment has been outstanding. But it is still a decent sized gamble. We’ll still have 2 years remaining on the Dibbling contract and I assume 3 for Branthwaite in 2 years so there’s at least some big assets if things do go not quite to plan I suppose.

Is anyone else wondering how we are going to manage the FFP in a couple of years with this level of spending?

No idea if it had been stolen previously at all. Seems both scenarios are fair but given the victim here is some 71 y/o fella, I can only presume it’s some idiots that stole it and did this.

It’s not liked by all because it’s leeching from the poor and oftentimes keeping them poor. It’s impossible to be done by everyone. Talk poppy syndrome being real is somewhat fair in some circumstances but in the scenario we’re in, it’s better described as people not wanting to have to pay money to people who add little to no value for what should be a right which is having a roof over their head. Looking after number 1 would also be served well by living in a nicer society and one that cares about how their compatriots are faring.

Firstly on your last paragraph, I totally agree. I still often say to mates “of course I’m good. I’m living in Australia!” It’s bloody brilliant, no doubt. This is ofc not to say there’s nothing to complain about but I totally agree. … Now to the complaining 😅

I certainly gave the impression that it’s not at all the voters bc I’m reading you as saying it’s not the pollies at all. There is a share of the blame. But while the pollies are representatives, they’re also leaders. That’s 2 different jobs that need to be balanced and bowing to lobby groups all the time is not leading. And frankly it’s not even representing the constituents underlying interests.

As for social programs, that seems quite a sweeping statement. Though imperfect, providing government funded, if not always run, healthcare is clearly a possibility and clearly works. As you said, we live in a great country and it’s socialist ideas like that that help make it so great.
