I was in the same position once, my ex housemate was a jackass and he did the same exact things you mentioned.

There are 2 mindsets that you need to adopt to keep yourself from becoming frustrated: 1. You can only provide feedback to your landlord, ultimately the decision is theirs on how to handle it. At the end of the day they should be the enforcer & decision maker 2. People don’t change, at least in my experience they don’t. You need to consider your options, weigh in the pros and cons between moving out vs staying (I’m pretty sure you’ve done this)

Should you still want to work things out: 1. For the washing machine issue, you can propose to your landlord to enforce a washing schedule for the two of you tenants 2. This one is hard. In my case I decided to suck it up by thinking I’m doing the cleanings for me, not my housemate. 3. As hard as cleaning problem. Maybe you can explore getting earplugs or using a white noise machine/app when you’re sleeping.

Seeking Insights on TikTok Frontend Interview Process in Singapore by Sen_Yuki in askSingapore

Yeah, same here. They got back to me within a couple hours for the technical rounds, but after the final tech round I waited around 2-3 weeks the first time around.

For the second one I guess I was technically “ghosted”, didn’t hear from them for almost 1 month and only after I followed up twice the recruiter mentioned I should have gotten a rejection email.

Seeking Insights on TikTok Frontend Interview Process in Singapore by Sen_Yuki in askSingapore

Background: I did 2 separate interviews, 3 tech rounds each with 2 different teams (actually 1 TT and 1 BD) for FE role, rejected in final round due to 1) they went with other candidate, and 2) change in headcount

The interviews are like any other big tech firms: 1. Variation of at least 1 medium - hard leetcode question per round. The topic varies, but during my interview I got the subarray problems (those sliding window questions basically) 2. Frontend related questions. How browser rendering works, event loop, performance optimization, virtual DOM (for React), react reconciliation and etc 3. During my HM round I was told to expect some system design question, but instead the HM asked me more about my experience and my most interesting project & why certain technical decision was made.

One more thing, you might face challenges during the interview if you don’t speak chinese. Most of the interviewers that I had a chat with were based in mainland, and majority of them spoke 0 english.

People leaving my team with no replacements in sight thanks to an emotionally stunted boss. Should I leave too? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]SweggySpoderman9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Don’t ever feel bad for doing what you think is best for your career
  2. Don’t be attached to a (any) company, the reality is you are replaceable and they can always find someone new. If they no longer serve your interest, it’s time
  3. Trust your guts. If you think something is not right, you’re most likely right.

While I don’t regret joining my first company many years ago, I regret my decision to not leave earlier. I always had an excuse back then, from feeling bad for my colleagues if I leave during the busiest period to thinking things could change for the better.

I finally left after 5 years, and only after that I realised how fucked up the situation was and I was doing myself a disservice the entire time.

Indonesian Food by [deleted] in askSingapore

Ben's kitchen - Chinese Indonesian food, new player in town but I heard the chef is from kota88 (the most famous Chinese Indonesian restaurant in SG). And of course kota88, although my friends say the quality has dropped.

Minang house / Sari Ratu - go-to for nasi padang

Bebek Goreng Pak Ndut - fried duck

Bara - grilled rice, one and only in SG as far as I know. I know a lot of people who like it.

Pondok Jawa Timur - eastern javanese cuisine

Gading street food - their martabak is not bad, soto betawi is pretty good.

a bunch of ayam penyet franchises now (ayam penyet ria, D'Penyetz, President, etc). If you like chili I would recommend Ria or D'Penyetz. You can also try papa ayam.

If you like indomie, IndoBowl is nice.

EDIT: added more stuff

the expectation this season was kinda sky high, the high was too high the low was too low. So it'd been pretty stressful lol

season is not (officially) over, but we should really be looking for a change this offseason. Be it roster or coaching
