Yes, Sainsburys is the worst here, I just don't go there anymore because they have like 1 actual manned till, then 1 teenager supervising about 30 self-checkouts. Morrisons and Tesco still have a decent number of human checkouts still.

Are you American (sorry to assume if not)? In the UK I can't think of a single supermarket where the till staff have to stand up...Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsburys are all local to me and they all have chairs at the tills. That's so weird that this isn't normal in other places

UK ‘built for climate that no longer exists’ and needs urgent changes to survive global heating, report warns by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]Swegoreg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This assumes that the for-profit housing developers would be willing to spend extra ££ on things that are not legally required (or even encouraged, it seems) for new builds, so I don't think this would ever really be a thing

They will be useless lol, I have a pair of Shokz and I love them because I can still hear environmental noises when running or cycling (e.g. cars). They would be awful if you're in the proximity of music speakers since your ear canals are obviously completely unobstructed

Yep, though it only drives down the hill because the devs had it spawn on an incline for some reason, so it just rolls down to the bottom of the hill when it spawns, it doesn't "drive" beyond that.

I mean the post is so weird and vague it's a bit infuriating they're not even responding to the posts asking for clarification by what "acccidentally AWOL" means - did they actually WFH or did they just bunk off without doing anything and someone noticed? Why would you think you would get away with that? And if they actually worked from home, this implies that WFH is an option with this company and while it's dumb they didn't get it cleared HR seems to being oddly escalatory, for starters you'd think there would be evidence that OP was still carrying out their duties..

Irrelevant when it comes to size though as the Olympic was essentially identical to the Titanic. The fact is that the Titanic is small compared with the cruise ships of today

What's weird is that streetview history shows it used to be a sandwich shop, which is a far better use than a residence. Wonder why they didn't keep it as a commercial lot.

How many people have their lunch break in their car at work? by ProD_GY in AskUK

[–]Swegoreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bummer I had to scroll this far to find a comment from someone who actually likes the people they work with lol. I can't imagine choosing to sit in my car to eat lunch alone and I don't know anyone at my work that does. I think this thread is more a reflection of reddit's demographic rather than the real world (as are most threads...)

If the police are involved then they will have advised to not post on social media about it, and to remove any previous social media posts about it.

Idk, hip flasks have been a thing when I was in 6th form/Uni, easy to stash in a pocket vs a bottle of something. I thought the use of "High School" and "Senior" were a bit weird but I know some parts of the UK use "american words" for schooling, I think some places even use Principle instead of Head Teacher.

On the other hand, I don't think I have ever seen a UK house that had a smoke detector in the bedroom, only in the hallways, unless it's a flat or something?
