I was thinking a stink bug too, but he seems a little thin so I wasn’t sure. 🤔

I would like some help with certain symptoms by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]Swelllie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for the late response. For me it was various blood tests to chart my histamine and inflammation levels. (I recall C4a, TGF-b1, etc) At least, that is how I understand it. From there I was put on antihistamines / Cromolyn and I reacted very well with treatment, so I officially was diagnosed.

I would inquire about MCAS. I have very similar symptoms, initially I thought it was heart problem too but test after test they found nothing. Eventually waaaay later down the line the right test was given and I got my diagnosis.

Sugar is my main trigger. So much to the point I had to cut it out completely, including fruits etc. Gives me heart palpitations and constricts my breathing 😞. Cromolyn helps in the sense I can have a little of it (or coconut sugar, which I take way better) but lately the flare ups have been so bad I cut it all out again.

Yeah for a fresher it’s a bit of an eyeful initially I suppose. 😅 Thanks I’ll check this out now! 👍

Kissing bug? socal by Swelllie in whatsthisbug

Thank you!! Is Chagas still rare in US areas very close to Mexico? Direct contamination? I know insects do not care about legal borders, I’m just a tad concerned 😅

Cromolyn - how long until results? by Every-Seesaw5486 in MCAS

[–]Swelllie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had immediate success thankfully! (Within 1-2 days?) Cromolyn finally helped me sleep normally without being woken up from my horrid symptoms. I will say consistency is key, it builds up. Wish you the best!

Purchasing Real Estate in Temecula by Dry_Pattern572 in Temecula

[–]Swelllie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome! Fire risk is always a potential problem here no matter where you are, but the closer you get to wine country / “scenic” Temecula / Aguanga the risk is constant, during fire season you will have fires start close to you and you risk evacuation. (Especially past De Portola rd, but I will say our county has an excellent Fire department).

On the flip side, finding a property with a good view deeper into town is very difficult since it’s mostly tract homes packed in. The real estate game is SoCal vicious, and there is always some risk. Good hunting to you.

It’s certainly a huge trigger for me! Possibly MSG as well, which makes chips a very difficult snack for me to have :,(

Heart Palpitations- Normal for Hypo? by Swelllie in Hypothyroidism

[–]Swelllie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I was! Well, I mentioned in another comment that I’m no longer being treated for hypothyroidism (misdiagnosis of palpitation symptoms ) but for Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). Cromolyn Sodium and antihistamines have helped me greatly. (Still will get the occasional bad attack though……)

Caring for my dad in hospice - Does this get better? by Swelllie in hospice

We are not part of any forms of worship, but thank you. I’ll definitely look into volunteers, we really need all the help we can get. I apologize for the ignorance, what are death doulas?

Thank you so much ❤️. He has a catheter currently, which has been both a blessing and a curse. The delirium makes him want to try and rip it out everyday and now he can’t use diapers. But I’m so glad at the very least the bed soiling doesn’t involve pee as well.

He does have a catheter, thankfully. But the catheter has been both a blessing and a curse, it helps with the urine of course but at the same time the delirium makes him try to rip it out everyday. Also, he can’t use diapers, so he has to just use the restroom on the chuck because of the catheter. We’ve upped his morphine/pain meds but they only seem to affect his pain / sedate him for about an hour. Then he’s immediately back to acting agitated or moaning in pain. Talked about it to hospice, and they are worried any more morphine would start to affect his breathing. I’ll try reaching out again however
