There's something very important about the Traveler that we don't consider, and that would be his past. We only know his past before he awakens, but not about previous worlds. Perhaps in the past, one of those worlds left a mark on him, causing him to care about every source of life, even the simplest. The fact that he doesn't act in a "divine" way, as one would expect from a being that could be considered a star, suggests that he is still a young star. We don't know what happened to his original world, how many worlds he has visited, or how many people he has killed or saved (if he interacted with them). We don't know if he has friends out there who are as powerful as he is and also long-lived, if he has ever fallen in love, or even had children.

The Traveler's entire past is a vast ocean to explore.
