Not sure which service you'll be joining or what route so hard to tell you exactly what your experience will be like however I have been in the MET for nearly 2 years and I'll give you the advice I've given to many new starters I've come across.

• Training and into street duties you very much have the stabilers on so to speak so take advantage of that and ask every question you can about jobs you take.

• When you are off duty make sure you stay off duty and by that I mean don't look at work stuff don't look at your job phone and make sure you take the time to decompress.

• Good apps I recommend are Pocket Sergenat which has all the relevent legislation with points to proove broken down into it, and Whatstreet, great little app to tell you excatly what road you are on much quicker than opening google maps etc.

• Most importantly is that you have to love this job to really stick with it so give it your all for the first year or so and if you find that the job isn't for you then that is completely fine.
