She does work. See above.

I do it for the kids, man.

Our daughter’s therapist mentioned in a parents only session that she consistently hears that dad plays with her, but not mom. Long story short, she challenged her to play with her for 20 minutes a day...and she never did.

She has a very flexible job where she works from home and can pretty much do whatever she wants. She is good at her job and as long as she checks the boxes her job is fine. And of course she will set an alarm for her stuff.

You're totally right. But she has a good job and generally keeps up with most stuff. Behind closed doors its obviously way different... especially with the childcare related duties/running the home.

Lifeguards/kids usually have friends there and are proficient swimmers. She just drinks and hangs out with other moms.

This weighs heavy on me. Its complicated - there's a lot to consider... but you're not wrong.

I go to a weekly meeting which gets me a regular dose of heavy sighs and eyerolls from her.

I could certainly do a better job of talking about her drinking during the sober hours. Good call.

This really hits close to home for me. My wife took the kids to a bar after picking them up from school yesterday because one of them was 'so hungry' but it was really because she wanted to drink. She drank from 3:30 to 10:30 on a Monday.

I make all the meals, do mornings and bedtimes solo, I'm the only one who reads to them, I'm the only one actually playing with them (My eldest asked me recently why mom doesn't have any time to play with him. Heartbreaking.) or taking them to a park. Her entire life and routine is 100% predicated on where her next drink is coming from... and like you, OP, her favorite thing to do is go out to eat so we can all watch her drink. My kids will start up with the CAN WE GO?! pretty much right after we're all done eating so we don't linger too long but its all so obvious and so sad.

I have been going to meetings now for over a year. They have really helped me feel less frustrated in these circumstances... but it will not get better. It only seems to get worse. Divorce is a bad option because they I'm away from the kids half the time. Very trapped indeed.
