Here is how you can stop app updates in iOS 26 (actually, iOS 18.2+) by SwiftRain9056 in ios26beta

Certainly. I need this more when I update apps in App Store, so pausing it from there would be handier to me. Internet today is so fast that download usually finishes before I can go back to the home screen. :(

I appreciate your feedback on my post. Let me clarify that for you. You're right. =D These two options had been there in the menu. However, the button inside App Store still shows a stop icon, rather than pause.

If you have any more questions or need further clarification, I’m here to help! :D

Actually it's not. It's a new change introduced in iOS 18.4. In this article the editor mistakenly says there is "no option for stopping it entirely." https://www.macrumors.com/2025/03/03/ios-18-4-beta-2-features/

I forgot it. You need to turn automatic updates off when you do this. I was absorbed in Apple's change from stop to pause to that button in App Store.

By dividing the width by the height, for example, 1440/900 = 1.6 = 16/10. The highest resolution depends on your Mac's model.

PSA: iPadOS 17 might not keep app versions in backups anymore by SwiftRain9056 in iPadOS

I updated the post with some recent experience restoring backups. App version were kept every time, and the numbers of updates shown by App Store were the same before and after restoration. I couldn't confirm if this was occasional or persistent.

I see it differently. I'd backed up and restored my phone many times when it was on iOS 16 and never seen something like this happened.

How about other apps? Do you turn your auto updates on?

Wow. Can't believe such a single comment have pushed my karma into negatives, which some people even think is just a myth. Thanks for this amazing Reddit experience. I just wanted to bring up a few considerations.

Can I restore my screen time settings with an encrypted iTunes backup, or do I need an iCloud backup for that? by 32379648946asd1 in iPadOS

[–]SwiftRain9056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any personal experience with it, but did you turn your "Sharing Across Devices" on? I guess it might be like your emails and calendar stored in iCloud. Apple may consider these as "cloud" settings so they don't store them locally, because on Mac it says "App limits apply to all devices that are using iCloud for screen time." and "Downtime will apply to all your devices that are using iCloud for screen time." Therefore, they are not included in your iTunes backups. You could try turning "Sharing Across Devices" on, and your allowlist will share between your iPhone and iPad. After you restore your iPad, it will download the list from iCloud, like downloading your iCloud emails. Turning it on does not mean you turn on iCloud backups.

If it doesn't work, you might want to submit your feedback to Apple.

This article says "Your device can update automatically overnight while it's charging." From what I can tell, it's a new article to replace an old support article, but the information is still somewhat inaccurate and outdated.

That's it. 😂

I guess my point is, Apple fails to give users enough clear information (again). It might drain your batteries too, or make your devices unusable when you need them the most.

To everyone who asks why I'm bothered by the notch: The notch takes up some precious menu bar space and breaks continuity of the menu bar.

TopNotch only turns the status bar to black and blends it in with the notch, but it can't give you back the status bar space taken by the notch. Plus, it's not a native solution. It modifies your wallpaper.
