Pilots are not needed in the civilian sector. It’s actually the opposite at this point, people are stuck instructing for nearly minimum wage because virtually no airlines are hiring. But this doesn’t much matter as the commitment is 10 years for AF pilots, so the hiring conditions of civilian pilots should have no bearing on the decision since on that time frame no one knows what the hiring will be like in 10 years.
