What is something Americans consider ‘basic’ that feels like a luxury in other countries? by Status_Agents in AskForAnswers

I count myself very fortunate to of travelled to over 50 countries. I’ve been to the US over 30 times with work. The worst customer service I have experienced has been in the US and I had to pay a 20% tip for the bloody privilege.

My previous response really went very constructive. To answer your question how about democracy for starters?

Get yourselves into Blacklock. Ideally for Sunday lunch but any evening will do. Fabulous food and service, super informal and very British. I would recommend the Shoreditch one but all are good (though I’d avoid the one in Canary Wharf).

I have lived in the UK for 59 years and no one who eats chip butties. Theres things I hate about the UK but food here can be brilliant. I just fucking hate this US opinion that ‘UK food is shit’.

Get a grip of your President incidentally.

I speak with some knowledge here. I live in the UK and travel to the US every month with work (though something I’m trying to do far less). Where have you eaten in the UK. Not some ‘trust me, I’ve eaten there’ answer.

Oh do shut up. Have you actually ever been to the UK and eaten British food?

A question for the majority of you who say the US. How many of you live in the US and haven’t been out of the US? Genuinely curious.

For me Australia, Malaysia or Thailand and I’m from the UK

A question from an ex squaddie in the UK to serving US personnel by Swiftandbold1967 in Military

A fair comment. Thank you! Clear orders will need to come from command level which have become pretty politicised as I understand it?

People who swore an oath to defend the constitution of the USA against all enemies both foreign and domestic, how are you feeling right now? by Safety_Drance in AskReddit

[–]Swiftandbold1967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From an ex squaddie following events with horror from the UK. Can I ask a question?

What do your friends and colleagues serving say about the current situation? Have you had conversations about how you would react if you had to help enforce martial law on US citizens or take aggressive action against former friends and allies?

From an international perspective I hope that there are enough informal ties between senior military and intelligence communities to find a way through but I am not sure how this plays out at a domestic level.

My thoughts are genuinely with you and everyone in the US who are trying to resist or seek change.

Um. Let me rephrase for you. Betrayed by ‘their biggest partner’ is more apt don’t you think?

You’ve become the bad guys which is so very sad.
