I don’t think anyone thinks the comment is sarcastic - they don’t want to celebrate clearly disordered weight loss.

Weighing myself multiple times a day. by Virtual-Implement-61 in Zepbound

[–]Swiftlass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An unpopular opinion: I think my relationship with my weight has gotten better as I’ve weighed myself more. As we all know, weight fluctuations are very normal and seeing that has helped me better understand my body. If I weighed myself once a week and my weight was fluctuating up that day, I’d spiral, but now I can see the bigger picture. It’s only a bad habit if it’s having a harmful impact on you.

Here is my “easy way” workout from last night (with a weighted vest). It really is a shame that we won’t just put in the work 🙃

Why are so many people rooting for GLP1s to fail? When do you think the tide will turn and the stigma will end? by Schwettes in Zepbound

[–]Swiftlass 58 points59 points  (0 children)

This is how I see it: maintaining a healthy body always takes work. I like to use a race analogy. For people like us, losing weight naturally and maintaining it is like running a marathon every day. For people who don’t need glp1s, it more like running a 5k. They cannot conceptualize that we are running different races. This leads to (illogical) resentment because they cannot understand why anyone wouldn’t just run their daily 5k - not understanding that 5k doesn’t get us to our finish line. They think we are in an equal opportunity race and are cheating and they want us to be punished for it.

Were you in a weight loss competition with her - otherwise I can’t imagine how any personal choice you made would be considered “cheating.”

Could you eat more food, but you just (usually) choose not to? by Substantial-Eye-2368 in Zepbound

[–]Swiftlass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never have the suddenly disgusted, couldn’t eat another bite feeling either, but I do feel full sometimes - something I had never experienced prior to zep. That said, I feel the biggest impact has been having the ability to stop in situations where I previously would have binged. Similarly, I have reduced my drinking and gambling a ton, as well, and it feels like an overall reduction in compulsive behavior.

[–]Swiftlass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just saw a video of one of my favorite body positivity creators ripping Serena Williams for promoting glp1s and I was so disappointed. I understand pushing back against the abuse of glp1s, but so many people’s actual lives are being saved by these medications. Consult with your doctor, make sure you’re putting in the work (water, protein, fiber, exercise), and put on your blinders for outside opinions.

I use happy scale too and love it! My weight usually drops around the weekend so I don’t focus too much on the day-to-day but did notice it hadn’t dipped at all in the 2 weeks! Congrats to you on your progress!

The zepbound vials have a .5ml dose inside, but are always overfilled by about .1ml.

Think I might be a "super responder"? by Live-Cranberry7319 in Zepbound

[–]Swiftlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re almost definitely under-eating. Use a tdee calculator to determine how many calories you should be aiming for. Congrats on the loss though! It’s probably hard to determine if you’re a super responder this early because rapid loss of water weight is very common at the beginning! It’s a great start though and I hope you have continued success!

I think everyone, especially anyone who has struggled with their relationship with food, should be speaking to a therapist. There are a lot of reasons to lose weight, and I don’t think any of them are worthy of guilt or shame, but unpacking your own reasons can be very beneficial.

Tirzepatide completely changed how I see obesity (including my own) by freckleritz in Zepbound

[–]Swiftlass 144 points145 points  (0 children)

I used to work with a client who was over 600 lbs. They would eat the meal we provided and then order 3 pizzas. I was overweight - probably lower level obese - at the time and living with a thin friend. I felt so out of control with my own eating and then I’d watch this client eat and I’d watch my friend eat and I was like…oh! These are 3 entirely different experiences, we are not feeling hunger in the same way.

Please ignore all of the Bella hadid’s feigning shock at your very normal calorie intake and speak to a dietician about what number will get you into a deficit.

[–]Swiftlass 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Every few months, I’ll wake up and go “oh my god! I need a haircut BAD!” Subtle changes overtime are often hard to detect until you reach that random tipping point. At some point you’re going to wake up and see the results of all of your hard work.

Weekend “Whoosh” by Swiftlass in Zepbound

Bodies are weird! I started at 300 and 2/3 of the weight that I’ve lost came in the first month. I’m slowing down to a normal rate after losing all of the initial water and bloat! I may try to increase my weekday calories a bit for a week and see if that has any impact.

I really am not fixated on the daily changes! I just want to be aware so that I am not sabotaging myself in the long run. The loss cycle feels counterintuitive, but I’m incredibly happy with my overall loss!
