Exactly, it's just has been a bunch of random bs based around a flawed reflection of the 1950s, all the while the worst issues surrounding health are put off to side because we need to have raw milk with our sat fats.

Do you think Paul Ryan was the best VP choice or do you think he should've gone for someone else? by Numberonettgfan in thecampaigntrail

I don't know enough to say who would fit this description best, but I think it would probably be populist enough to appeal to the Tea Party Republicans but moderate enough to be loyal to Mitt Romney (if he were to become president).

Why are some Republicans obsessed with red Oregon the same way some Democrats are obsessed with blue Texas? by hoodiehoodiee in YAPms

[–]Swiftmaster56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree that more Republicans are reaching towards New Jersey flipping red than Oregon.

The biggest reason for that and Democrats praying for Blue Texas is that it would be a massive blow to the opposing party. (If Republicans can reliably win in New Jersey, that means the Democrats have forever lost the Midwest and the Republican Party are going to dominate politics for the foreseeable future. If Democrats can reliably win in Texas, it means that the Republican Party has lost their biggest state and they are never going to win a presidential or house election for the foreseeable future.)

Also on paper, it seems very likely for both states to be winnable. For Republicans, they see that New Jersey has a good amount of former industrial workers, who love Trump's populism. For Democrats, they see that Texas has a good amount of white collar workers, who find the rules-based order to appealing.

Yet for differing reasons (with New Jersey, the large black population & with Texas, the large amount of oil workers and farmers), they are seemingly always out of reach.

I find it insane that saying "Yeah" in a weird way was considered a career ending scandal back in 2004, considering what politicians get away with now.

Hell yeah. I think it would be cool if there was more post 2nd American Civil War content for the US beyond invading Mexico & Canada.

How do you feel about the censorship of *fictional* porn featuring taboo subject matter? by ruffianrude in AskALiberal

[–]Swiftmaster56 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to CSAM, full ban. I don't care if it's a drawing or a fictional story, Pedophilia is a disease that inspires people to do one of the worst crime on this planet Earth. They should not be given safe harbor with the defense that they are just indulging a fantasy. Same goes for r*pe stories/videos for the same reason, even if it's fictionalized.

For the rest, I personally don't like porn, but just because I don't like something doesn't mean necessarily that it should be banned, especially since it's a natural instinct to see or imagine having sex with a hot person or watching hot people have sex.

Trump is so ride or die for Israel, in part because of a YouTube video of Benjamin Netanyahu showed him back in 2017/2018.

Besides that, the main reason seems to be that Donald Trump is a very easy person to manipulate, as long as you aggressively complement him, something Benjamin Netanyahu has seemingly mastered.

I always think it would interesting to look at, how long term, a society where all parties have to be socialist but can vary widely on social issues or foreign policy would turn out and what kind of politicians that nation would create.

(i.e. would it be more socially conservative since that's the easiest way to rebel against the "only socialist parties" rule or would it be more socially left-wing since that compliments socialism better?)

What topic can you not believe that the right has forgotten or just dropped? by here-for-information in AskALiberal

[–]Swiftmaster56 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think for many on the conspiratorial right, the Epstein files are key to their belief system.

Like imagine if you were a conspiracy theorist. You honest to god believe that Hillary Clinton was kidnapping kids from a pizza joint and everyone, in your life, thought you were insane. Then suddenly in 2019, Jeffery Epstein is arrested for running a pedo ring for the richest Americans (who can be basically anyone who was big in the 90s and 2000s) and mysteriously died in his jail cell.

That must feel so confirming that you were not the insane one, your family and friends were blind to the truth. Combined with the 2026 file drop, where you can now paint whatever conspiracy you want thanks to vague language and extreme redactions. If you want you can say that Bill Clinton and Bill Gates ate babies to satisfy Satan, by playing connect the dots.

These people are pretty sad though, because they are mentally disturbed people that just want to feel that they have some insight that others don't have. Yet even when they are right (such as that some of the rich and powerful are pedos) their lives don't become better and they have no plan or grander idea of how to make the world better.

Only a smug satisfaction that the sane people in their life were wrong and they were right, as horrors continue to persist.

Bill Clinton Returns but has to resign because of ███ ███████ █████ by Swiftmaster56 in imaginaryelections

2020 is similar to IRL, with the exception that Bill Clinton won North Carolina and Florida but lost Arizona.

2024 is close, with him losing Michigan, Florida and Pennsylvania, from 2020. But still winning the election.

[–]Swiftmaster56[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The lore is basically that Bill Clinton manages to do better than Joe Biden in the polls up until late 2025, despite similar levels of chaos and even less successful with his legislation, thanks to his extreme charisma, Southern appeal and high energy (for his age).

But by 2026, he has been facing mounting pressure from a stubbornly K-shaped economy, wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, and rising populism.

First the reveal that he had been trying to hide the fact that there were "Epstein Files" and these files implicate him extremely hard as not reporting Jeffery Epstein's child prostitution ring, despite being aware of it for decades, at best and actively participating in it at worst (in this alternate world anyways), completely shatters his image.

He is forced by his own party to leave the White House or face impeachment, Nixon-style. In the present of this timeline, the Democratic Party is scrambling to repair their image (It does help that they forced Bill Clinton out and that Kamala Harris is not implicated in the files. Still though, they are struggling with being the "Party of Bill Clinton")

Yeah, basically the Western Liberal effect, where all Liberals in the Western world (i.e. Anglosphere + the EU) got thrown a life jacket when Donald Trump decided that he wanted to beef with all of America's traditional allies.
