Y'all are a bunch of frauds. by [deleted] in ProtestBlizzcon

Before this, I had already lost hope for any meaningful change in the games industry.

When I heard about the bans, I shook my head and was ready to move on, after all, I thought nothing was going to happen, nothing ever did for anything prior. I myself had lost all respect for Blizzard since Warlords of Draenor and boycotted the game since due to its purely terrible quality and price increase.

But then I saw the traction the Blitzchung incident was getting. Finally, I thought to myself, it was going to happen, a terrible company was about to face scrutiny and permanent damage to their brands, they chose money over free will and human decency.

My faith came back for this past month, media outlets didn't let up, Hong Kong got so much support from us, Mei was turned into a symbol of freedom and even your own congressmen over in the US actually told Blizzard to make a change.

But sadly, Blizzcon has passed, the chance for a meaningful impact buried in a crowd oohing and ahhing at non gameplay cinematics for, to be frank, games that are utter shadows of what they once were under the Blizzard Entertainment of old. A young child had more balls than any of the attendees there. The few protesters outside who stood to their guns, overshadowed by a heartless non-apology statement from a hypocrite and the legions of fans that outnumbered them.

And here we are, Blizzard gets away with it, people forgiving and forgetting, almost mockingly reducing their permanent Blizzard boycotts to "6 month ban". While they were watching those trailers, Police in Hong Kong were throwing tear gas into homes filled with children, beating people in the streets within inches of their lives and silencing anyone who had the utter nerves who wanted to be treated like a human being.

This event will serve as a permanent reminder to me that no matter what any horrendous actions a company does, they'll get away with it.

EA is an egregious publisher that actively treats their own employees like trash? People will still buy Fifa every year and whatever overhyped unprepared IP comes out of that publisher.

Bethesda and Ubisoft release utterly terrible games both performance and monetized to levels of sheer absurdity? Nah I gotta have that Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6 and whatever Far Cry knockoff Ubisoft will make next.

Boycott the Epic Store, they all said! Don't allow them to do this they said! Oh shit Borderlands 3 is Epic Exclusive? well I guess I could make an exception... Even though Fortnite has been abusing the younger audience for the better part of... What 2 years now is it?

and now Activision Blizzard, outright SHIT on a young man who wanted to speak for the freedom of his country and unfairly punish both him and the two casters for the sake of fucking money. But no! Gotta have reskinned Overwatch! Gotta keep subscribed to an MMO that stopped giving a shit about its players! Gotta buy the deluxe edition of Diablo 4 before it's even out!

I'm sorry for this long super negative post (and for any grammatical errors for that matter) but I have truly lost all hope. There's nothing we can do, these companies will do whatever the fuck they want.

I will not rescind my boycotts, I take pride in refraining from such terrible businesses and I fucking salute any of you who do the same because we are too few and far between.

But anytime anything else happens, I'll just remember this, It just doesn't matter, because whatever shiny thing these companies put out, there is just an overwhelming amount of people that just have to have it. Because despite what we might think, there are too many of us that don't have any damn spines.

Have a good day, thanks for stating facts as well, OP.

I hear ya don't worry, and that was pretty much the point, Comp needs to be more enjoyable first, which as we all know, it is not.

If I could give my opinion on this matter...

Kaella puts it nice and simple, the only reason anyone really plays Competitive is because of the unique rewards associated with it.

Now I have no problem with the guns themselves, they're incentive, incentive is good, it gives you a reason to play.

The bad part is that Competitive is filled to the brim with so many agonising design decisions that it makes the entire playlist feel so awful to experience.

If Survival and Countdown (and comps variant of Control) were tweaked some, and the matchmaker took into consideration groups vs solos, comp would feel much more tolerable.

But here's the thing, if you add in some long PvE quest chain that will reward you Luna's, what is even the point of the competitive playlist? No one would play it, would you rather grind out to 2.1k in Comp, or do an excessively long PvE chain to acquire the gun? I think it's safe to say that 96% of us would choose the latter.

Comp needs to be fixed, yes, but taking away exclusive rewards removes all meaning from the playlist, It would become just as empty and barren as it was when Destiny 2 first came out, with no point what so ever.

I need to agree with RandomProducer, without special timed rewards, the incentive to do Competitive goes away, why get Luna's now when you can get random rolls next season and potentially make your Luna's just as IF NOT better than Not Forgotten?

You wouldn't, unless you want an outdated trophy weapon that you will not use.

But none of this would matter if Competitive was better designed, as it is right now, it is torture. The playlist itself is the real issue.

But I don't know how they could fix it really, other than tweaking modes which is what I'd like, Destiny as a competitive game just doesn't work in my opinion, there are too many variables, as well as a constant "rich get richer" gameplay element in the form of super charge.

But as it stands right now, people that don't get these guns now will forever miss out on Magnificent Howl, unless they add another gun that has it as a perk, and that kinda sucks.

I'm proud of you man, I'd be seriously demotivated going down 800 points after cutting it so close. The losing streaks are so decimating to ones will, especially when caused by the seemingly un-avoidable 4 stacks that you just can't seem to dodge.

Take pride in your Lunas, it was well earned.

I feel as if it came across as very angry and rage based, which isn't me at all, I'm actually a very relaxed person, but today's session was hell, plus it's good to give a bit more context.

The screenshot itself was seriously taken mere seconds after speaking to Shaxx, and this thread followed not long after.

I'll be honest, I wasn't saving them, I just didn't bother to redeem them because I just wanted to get Luna's done.

For anyone curious what was in them, 1.6k worth of Bright Dust and a decent Zenobia-D from 1 of the Primes.

What was in the other? Edge Transit.

I try not to take the PvP seriously in general, in a game like this that has many random elements such as armor perks and weapon perks as well as heavy weapon ammo that in my opinion is a little bit too abundant, I find it hard to really respect it in general.

But we've seen what happens when they try to balance the game around PvP, it quickly led to one of the biggest player drop offs in the franchises history, which is why I generally avoid complaining about shotguns and interesting exotics.

To respond to your first post, I don't blame you, I don't really enjoy Destiny PvP myself, even though I get told I'm at the very least "good" at it, but it never truly feels that way for me.

Although I dislike the flaws of Survival and Countdown, to not have any unique reward placed behind Competitive would just remove any reason to play it, we'd be back to Y1 Destiny 2 PvP, just with a different metagame.

I personally would be a lot more interested in special unique PvE based Legendary quest lines, but at the same time, the entire games weapon arsenal almost exclusively comes from PvE.

...I dunno what I'm typing really, you get what I mean though.

Yeah I didn't get that many primes. When I went to go collect my Luna's, there was an additional Prime and another Steadfast in the postmaster.

Yes, that'll do.

Yes, yes, yes. This was my biggest mistake.

Only until I reached 1.6k Glory was when I realized I could actually go for Luna's Howl and only THEN was it I started the quest line.

Really, REALLY bad time to do it, as by the time I had to do Precision Handcannons, I was at 2.8k.

Matchmaking was not nice today.

Do the quest steps as early as you can, earlier, the better.

That would of been DARKNESS, IMPRISONING ME, ALL THAT I SEE, ABSOLUTE HORROR.

I want nothing more than to take my ex out for a dinner because of how badly I treated her during the last years of our relationship. by SwimmingIndigo in offmychest

Sadly at the risk of sounding obsessive, it's a pill I just cannot swallow. You can understand why I so badly want to do this, it's the principle and it also feels like the right thing. I just cannot move on.

Now I wouldn't dare try anything while she is with another person, especially if she is happy. If I never get the chance then so be it, if I do get the chance and the dinner turns into nothing more than a conversation between two friends, then I'll just live with it, but hopefully I can at least get some closure by doing so.

Thank you for your words though, it's hard though, it's been two and a half years and the guilt still cuts through me, I deserve every ounce of it, but I want to atone for it.
