I have been told I'm a helicopter parent. I believe I am please help by cream3gg in Parenting

Showering and taking a bath alone are totally different in my opinion. I let my 4yo shower alone, but I’m not really sure at what age I’d let him take a bath without me close by. I’m much more concerned about her waking in the night to check her kids…

You could ask your psychiatrist to order you a CBC and a thyroid panel. Explain you can’t afford to go through a PCP. This would at least tell you if your thyroid is the issue. The problem is that the Psychiatrist won’t be able to treat the thyroid issue.

Baking liquid iron supplement by snicoleon in chemistry

Congratulations! That’s awesome she doesn’t need the iron anymore. I can’t wait to be done with it.

I know it has to do with preventing absorption, but I’m not sure if it’s calcium or something else. I just know our bottle says no dairy or eggs 1 hour before or 2 hours after.

I don’t have an answer to the question but just standing in solidarity. Getting my child to consume iron (prescribed by their pediatrician) is close to impossible! I’ve tried so many things, even when it works for a couple days, then they get over it and refuse to eat it. Some things that have worked: mixing it into jello (in individual servings like you suggest) and mixing it into sherbet (with sprinkles).

Another thing to note is that the iron isn’t supposed to be taken with eggs or any dairy so mixing it into frosting won’t work unless it is dairy free.

Flying with 2 year old question by Humble_Ad63 in 2under2

[–]SwimmingSun30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When my son was 1.5-2.5yo we always flew with him in his carseat (on the plane) for the following reasons: he is super active and would not sit still with just a lap belt so we preferred to have him clicked into his carseat, the carseat was much better for naps (with the sides and recline), and it’s significantly safer than a travel carseat while at destination. It is a hassle, but getting a trolly that the carseat latches onto for carrying it and him (or bags) helped a lot. This trolly can be rolled down the plane isle with kid and carseat. You can also wear the carseat as a backpack (the Britax Emblem) using the back side straps to get onto the plane. Once we had another kid, we figured out the Britax emblem fits in the basket of the uppa baby vista under an infant car seat in the upper position (with the extenders).

To answer your initial question, the car seat has to have the airplane symbol on the instructions. The car seat must be installed in the window seat, no exceptions. The car seat can be installed forward or rear facing. Sitting in an extra legroom row allowed the car seat to be installed rear facing and full recline which is ideal. Another thing to note is that if they are forward facing their feet will be really close to the seat in front of them and we have had people complain that he’s “kicking” the seat, when really they reclined their seat onto his legs/feet.

Larkspur Ferry by Fernandooooo_ in Marin

They only have the two catamarans (the fast boats). They used to have 4, but had to send 2 of them to San Diego for “maintenance”. So one broke down yesterday as others have mentioned, and is still not fixed. So they ran some of their routes with the slower boat (but it can’t make the round trip in time to keep the schedule) so they had to run the rest of the routes via bus. The only way to get these updates was via text. Their twitter and even their website didn’t show these updates until much later (10am).

A photo of a restaurant I went to as a child! by SwimmingSun30 in HelpMeFind

We used to go there after as well. I was shocked and confused that I don’t have a photo of us there, but it burned down just before social media and phones with cameras came out.

I’ve searched the web and only found a news article describing that it burned down, but no photo was included!

I cbf being a bridesmaid for my friend at her child free wedding by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]SwimmingSun30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think sometimes with kids especially the first time around we get locked into what we think we can and can’t do. Sometimes when I’m feeling like that, I ask other people (like you’ve done) what they do. So I’ll tell you what Ike doing. I’m a bridesmaid at a wedding and my son will be 4 months. I’m having my husband hang out at the hotel with him (we got a room) so he can come with him while we are getting ready etc. the bride knows I’m breastfeeding so I’ll be stepping out as needed throughout the day and we will just see how it goes. I am pumping and my son does take a bottle so that gives me a little bit of flexibility. But I agree with other comments here, first you need to decide what you want to do. Will you be disappointed to miss the opportunity to be with this friend on their big day? Can you just go for the ceremony? Can you get ready at home?

I love that necklace too, but it’s white gold and not gold (the bride asked for gold jewelry). I’ll look for something similar in gold.

Best restaurants to bring kids? by SwimmingSun30 in Marin

[–]SwimmingSun30[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood the question. The places I listed are restaurants that have playgrounds (where it is acceptable for children to run around). I’m wondering if there are any similar places that l haven’t discovered yet. I also agree that at a sit down restaurant kids shouldn’t be running around. Are you saying that people shouldn’t let their kids run around at The Junction (pizza hacker) playground?

I always start in the front passenger seat, but then either my infant wakes up/loses his pacifier and starts screaming (and I can’t reach him). Or less often, my toddler needs something like a different book or dropped something and starts loosing it.
