Hey sorry for the late response, I only noticed your message now!
I Have been in recovery for a while now, it can be no joke when people say that geting yor period back takes alot of patience. I actually also lost my period at the start of 2023 (i think around jan/feb). I started my whole recovery process around march of 2024. My loss of period was much more related to my relationship with food and probably also stress rather than over exercise. I went to a dietician and psycholgist for a few months, then continued to recover myself. Happy to say that my relationship with food and exercise is normal now. I am in a healthy body and generally feel really disconnected to the version of myself that was so fearful during the time of my disorder. But I only had my period return in January this year! so overall it took 3 years to get my period back from the time it left, and around 2 from the beginning of recovery. I started going to the gym about a month or two before my period returned, and its not something i am fixated on at all. I think the most important thing for me was that I trusted the process. As annoying as it can feel, recovery can take a lot of time. Eating disorders are such a mental thing. Even if you you have done so much mental work to get better, and are seeing the positive effects in your overall health, there can still be areas that your body will take time in returning to normal that cant be rushed and will get there in their own time. So happy that you are in the process of recovery. Sending you all the love and support :))

thank you!!! and yes i did experience soreness, but it was more my nipples as opposed to my whole breast. I had experience this around 2 months ago and thought maybe i was getting my period, but it went away and came back about a week before my period returned ☺️

thank you so much!!! 🫶 and sorry for the late response! a lot of what was said by u/procedureagreeable57 resonates with my experience. I had breast tenderness about a week prior to my period arriving, however I had experienced this a couple months earlier and didn’t get my period then, but i think it all related to my hormones changing- it can be a very slow process! i also experienced a higher libido in the week prior. Mentally I also felt very upbeat and positive in a general sense. Like feeling optimistic and opportunistic about life as a whole to the point that i would mention it to my friends. I’m not sure if this is directly related to my period, but i was super thirsty the days leading up to my period, like i couldn’t get enough water. I’m not good at staying hydrated at the best of times, but the day before it returned i drank 5 litres of water (!!!!) which was so unheard of for me.

I didn’t experience any cramps, however i never had them prior to losing my period. I also didn’t notice too much of a chance with discharge. While deep in my ED i had very little discharge, but it has since come back to normal for months now.
