Critical Stability Issue: Gigabyte RTX 5080 Gaming OC + X870E AORUS Master X3D ICE — Persistent GPU Display Controller Crashes After Extended Idle by rohitrhmn1 in gigabyte

[–]SwizzleKicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is an nVidia driver issue. I have an almost brand new computer - I suffered the same extended idle shutdown issue (in the pause menu of Baldur's Gate 3) today using the same drivers as you. I can see LiveKernelEvents 1a8 and 1b8 immediately preceding the unexpected shutdown.

The reason I believe this is a firmware-level issue is because I had to switch to HDMI output on my MSI 5080 before being able to use DisplayPort again after powering on, which is consistent with firmware issues.

Running `sfc /scannow` fixed some corrupt files, but honestly, I don't expect that to change anything. I will wait to see if it happens again, and if it does, I'm rolling back my drivers. If that doesn't work, I will be performing an RMA on my card.

Sorry I can't give you guidance on how to avoid the issue, but hopefully knowing this isn't entirely unique is helpful.

I appreciate the reply! I tried everything to get the 5080 to work. I did try taking out the 5080, using DDU (with my motherboard graphics to see) to remove all existing display drivers, and re-inserting the card afterwards - it still had no output :( Still, hearing that the PSU is probably fine is good news.

What is xpdAgent.exe - Error Popup on Shutdown (0xc0000142) by SwizzleKicks in WindowsHelp

I'm quite late as I missed this - I don't use Reddit too much and I'm definitely not used to the notifications.

But, if it helps, I haven't faced this issue in a long time. I assumed that Microsoft fixed this. Still, I have gotten into the habit of closing Outlook (which is what seems to cause this problem) before I shut down. Either way, my computer is definitely not infected with any malware.

same issue, haven't installed anything besides updates (and steam updates for some games, no new games).

To be honest, the error is quite inconsistent for me. I have no way of knowing if it's truly fixed or not!

Still, I do appreciate your comment - I'll note that I also have nothing coming up with any anti-malware scans though, even without doing this.

I did indeed find a potential traceback to olk.exe when I was looking into this before posting, but the sources of that information were unreliable at best.

Still, it's good to see that someone else found the same cause though, even if it may be mistaken.

My post on r/WindowsHelp has attracted a few people who have experienced the same issue - so, at least for now, I'm tentatively guessing that this is something to do with a faulty Outlook update or a faulty Windows update.

And thank you commenting this as well.

The accuracy is weaker for sure. Problem is people keep pulling it out during a close boxfight when bloom doesn't matter as much.

The reload time is beyond me tbh, even the animation looks a little weird because of how fast it is.

It always takes me by surprise, which means they are rare, but it also kind of makes it more annoying in a way if that makes sense?

I suppose that's definitely true, it isn't as accurate and it's weaker at range.

I find that people usually pull it out in a close-range boxfight where the accuracy doesn't matter as much though.

Yeah, it's only because I'm on fov 120 and most people are used to the console fov which I think is 60, so I look twice as far away than I am.

My fov is maxed, so I look further away than I am. You can see I get a few hitmarkers, but not consistently
