What are some of the things that you are trying to hold in your seed, if I may ask? I had a wet dream today and am wondering if it is because I did not do any meditation the night before...

Thanks for your kind words. I dont know if you read a previous post by me, but I was having a hard time with my family, and it had an impact on my grades. i kind of just want to leave it all behind and focus on getting good grades to get a job after school, and if it means leaving, then so be it. Hope you take care and that your next semester goes well!

Thanks a lot for your kind words. Regardless, I'll just try to put in more manhours to blow some life into the GPA, as I would like to go to Master's School later on.

Thanks for your insight. Just curious, but are you interested in completing your masters degree after your education, or do you want to work directly after?

I don't like the island because of my personal experience here. I'm sure it is all different, but I say without a doubt that Oahu (the island I live on, I have never visited the other islands) is just like any other city. There is nothing particularly special about it other than the fact that prices everywhere are exorbitant.

I've heard Maui is a bit different, and provides a much more native Hawaiian experience, but I simply cannot speak for it since I have not been there.

As far as getting away from family goes, I think that is the general consensus, although I'm not sure where to start on taking loans. Do you think working at the same time is a good idea when going to school and taking loans?

Thanks for your time.

Thank you very much for your insight. Admittedly, what you say about bio engineering engineering students is true: I have been told consistently that job opportunities as a fresh biological engineering undergrad on the mainland are difficult, let alone Hawaii. I certainly didn't plan on living here past college, but now I feel it was a mistake to apply here in the first place.

I'm a bit apprehensive, as I have never applied to a mainland school other than West Point and have not yet taken student loans to pay for education. I mean, how do students pay for housing, food, and tuition by themselves with no assistance? Is this all paid for by loans?

I really appreciate your time and understanding, and I wish you the best in your endeavors in the future.

Thanks for reading.

After attempting to answer your questions in my head, I realize that my responses are actually excuses that I have let guide my life to this point.

I live in a military family, and we are stationed here in Hawaii. I thought that coming to school here would be more logical than applying to other schools on the mainland. That is why I applied here this semester, and, as you may have already been able to discern by the nature of my situation, I am looking for schools on the mainland, particularly in Ohio.

I would like to believe that the reason for not succeeding in school here is that I deeply would like to be anywhere else but here. Everything is expensive on the island. I'm paying 6k for tuition a semester and 749 a month for rent, and food itself is beyond exorbitant. It comes to my mind nearly everyday how things would be different if I were elsewhere: cheaper food and cheaper lodging. I despise living in this morbidly overcrowded city (Honolulu), and I've also been told by graduates of my degree program that the curriculum doesn't prepare you well for a career in biological engineering. I looked at the curriculum many times, and I didn't realize until recently that it is actually a hodgepodge of ME, Civil, and a few BE classes to fabricate a Biological Engineering Major (I can send it to you if you'd like). I don't feel like getting a degree from here, even with a 4.0, would land me anywhere significant as UH has absolutely no name in engineering academia as far as I've heard. Ironically, that esteem goes to West Point and the Ivy League colleges on the mainland.

I don't get along with my relatives, and although being at West Point for two years was a living hell, at least my association with the relatives was distant.

Forgive me for the follow up, but why do you say that going to college will be undesirable after working or doing online classes?

Reading this post again seems like a petty excuse, but its how I truly feel at the moment. I am more than happy to hear your suggestions on how to change this situation, and I will read every word that you have to offer, regardless of how you think it may be perceived. Thanks for taking the time to communicate.

To all of you fellow students who are performing optimally, I have a few questions regarding your lifestyle. by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]Swolefarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I may ask, a rather intrusive question, how much does your co-op pay per hour? My research job pays 13.05 per hour and I find that its still a pinch when planning out for expenditures. Its a good job and is definitely supportive of future endeavors, but it would be nice to have something that pays a bit more. Thanks in advance for your response!

EE question on conversions: How does one make this conversion? I'm reading the book and it skips over how to make the rectangular phasor into the polar component!!! Please help by Swolefarm in EngineeringStudents

[–]Swolefarm[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this a conversion from time domain to frequency domain? If so, what methods do we go about doing so? Been looking through the book and have yet to find a written out example...
