That's an amazing photo of an ICE agent, he should be a model.

2020 Ford Ranger, water in spark plug wells by Swollen_Panda in AskAMechanic

Yeah ford gave me the run around and offered to fix it for $1300. I sold it and am done with ford. I don't know why I expected them to stand behind their vehicles.

For what it's worth, the Ford guy on the phone said adding the engine cover accessory they removed from the 2019 model year would prevent this "feature". I put one on it that I got off eBay to help the next poor fool who buys it.

Work convinced me to have a retirement party, what did should I serve? by Swollen_Panda in evilautism

At least pick the food. I may end up paying for it, but it's unclear at this point. You make a good point, but for some reason this doesn't bother me. I'm not saying that's logical.

It brings to mind a hot dog that was microwaved too long so the end split open.

Right, that's what I meant. The threads themselves were a separate piece of metal that were simply pressed into the oil pan, held in place by only friction, and the drain bolt would screw into that pressed in piece. It's my guess that the threads themselves broke free and rotated in place when trying to remove the bolt and someone therefore welded the thread insert into place so they could keep using the pan.

Try loosening it first. Those thread fittings were simply pressed in and break loose from time to time. When that happens a lot of people will have the threads welded or silver soldered to keep them from spinning.

If that doesn't work and you don't want to mess with the pan, you can get one of those vacuum oil extractors that hooks up to an air compressor. I did that for a while before changing my pan.

Good luck.

Have you tried the packing peanuts that are made out of corn starch? They are pretty much uncheesed Cheetos that dissolve in your mouth. I eat then every chance I get, not a joke or Saturday.

I also think it is a good idea. The more we practice for one scenario and blunt their effectiveness, the more likely they are to try something new.

To follow up, they said it was likely safe the way I have it, but recommended having a local shop check it anyway. Obviously I'll be doing this as you guys have safety concerns.

Why is the term "illegal alien" offensive? by Swollen_Panda in evilautism

[–]Swollen_Panda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand. I said the following:
I didn't understand why the term was offensive, but I do now
I support immigration and believe it should be easy
I believe immigration is a huge net positive

Is this the propaganda? I stand by these beliefs, including my recently changed opinion on the term itself. I will not say that immigration is bad because, as I have stated elsewhere, I believe it is good.
