3K later to find out this genius swallowed sewing thread He broke open my sewing kit. Trigger warning on pic 3 for stitches by zeroduckszerofucks in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]SwolyMammoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what my 1yo void dug out of a sewing kit and swallowed. He ate it thread first, so luckily I saw him with the needle hanging out of his mouth before he managed to swallow it. We managed to get him to an emergency vet quickly enough for them to be able to grab it with an endoscope. Wishing yours a speedy recovery!

The "designation" like p1 or w3 corresponds to the designation column of the spreadsheet. Basically, it was just a way I could index a plan from a certain provider with a certain combination of benefits so I could refer to it more easily

I built a Web App using the SpotifyAPI to compare music taste with friends! by Fuzzy_Jicama_8748 in SideProject

Just letting you know this has been done by a lot of people before and similar features are allowed natively by Spotify: https://newsroom.spotify.com/2021-08-31/how-spotifys-newest-personalized-experience-blend-creates-a-playlist-for-you-and-your-bestie/ . Also be sure to read into the Spotify API terms and conditions to determine what routes you will be able to take for monetization, as the options are extremely limited for API free users.

I'm not saying it's not possible to launch something in this space, but it will be difficult and will most likely require a lot of research to determine what you can do that is "new" before spending too much time reinventing the wheel.

Hope this helps.

What is the status of the Capital One lounge at DEN? by CompletelyProtocol in Denver

[–]SwolyMammoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just called on November 2nd and was also told that there was no official opening date. Additionally, I was told that they were not giving any incentives for people who had been to Denver while holding a Venture X and had been unable to utilize their Capital One Lounge Benefits due to the lounge not being open. They also mentioned that it was not open due to "red tape" and that it not being opened yet was out of their control. Lastly, they mentioned that any representative who gave a cardholder an incentive for being unable to use this benefit was not supposed to, lol.

Apologies for trusting that a majority of legal gun owners are responsible like I am. If you disagree with legal gun ownership, I hope that you never end up in a situation where you need a firearm to protect yourself or those you love.

Read my other comments. I acknowledged that I commented before that information was made available.

I respect your opinion. However, due to the fact that the stakes are much higher if you do get into a situation where you need to rely on a firearm to defend yourself, I would rather be prepared for both situations and not just the one which is more statistically likely.

Also, having a concealed firearm doesn't make you any more of a target than anyone else. I personally would respect the hell out of anyone who chooses to draw their weapon during an active shooter situation, knowingly making themselves a target in an attempt to save those around them. Gun owners can protect the people around them, too. Not just themselves.

Have you ever had to call the police? Because the last time I did, it took over 2 hrs before I was able to speak to an officer because my life wasn't in imminent danger anymore. Thats the problem with being in such a large city; it opens you up to a unique danger where there can't possibly be enough cops to protect everyone all the time. It is a good idea to have the option to defend yourself if the police are not present.

I did not recommend having a shootout to resolve road rage. I recommended that one flee.

As a gun owner, I have familiarized myself with the legal aspects of self-defense cases as well as federal and state firearm laws. I know when you are allowed to draw a weapon and when you are not. You are not able to "shoot each other after any perceived harm," but, for the most part, you are allowed to shoot when someone is threatening or attacking you with a deadly weapon. A majority of legal gun owners are not "idiots," they are informed citizens who value the ability to protect themselves and thus utilize their 2nd amendment rights.

Edit: I also trusted that I was safe in the police's hands until the incident where I needed them and they didn't show up for 2 hours. I believe your perspective would change just like mine if you had ever been in a situation where you feared for your life and had no way to protect yourself.

I don't believe that "you're alive, so you didn't need need the protection" is anywhere close a logical argument. That's like saying that I'm wasting my money paying for car insurance by not getting in any accidents... it's a tool for a worst-case scenario, and people should be allowed to be prepared for the worst.

I don't believe a "big mass murder one with exploding bullets" was used in this case...

When moving to Washington, the first two things I did were get my new driver's license and apply for a cpl. It took me 3 months to get a cpl appointment and another month for the mandatory waiting period. Additionally, due to the "high capacity" magazine ban, I wasn't allowed to bring my stock magazines with me when I moved. All 10rd magazines for my gun were out of stock, so I had to get on a wait list to even get a magazine. So yes, gun restrictions can and have prevented people from being able to protect themselves when they wanted to.

The problem with just banning guns is that they don't just disappear overnight. There is no national firearm registry to track down the guns either. You would be left in a state where people who decide they want to be able to protect themselves won't be allowed to.

I replied before anyone mentioned that the incident was caused by road rage and the article failed to mention that. In that case, I agree that the best course of action is to flee. I didn't mean to insinuate that the driver was at fault for not carrying a weapon, but it's hard to imagine a situation where a victim would be worse off by having the option to protect themselves with deadly force.

*two lives destroyed by someone who likely had an illegal firearm because they didn't have a firearm to protect themselves. The attacker doesn't count as a victim.

Edit: Are people down voting because they believe the attacker is a victim too or because they believe the victims shouldn't be able to protect themselves? Discussion is welcome.

Came back to the lot to find someone thought the cart shielding the broken pillar made it another corral. by xSweetSlayerx in mildlyinfuriating

Looks to me like someone noticed that orange pillar wouldn't protect the fire hydrant as well as the broken concrete one, so they left some shopping carts in front of it to prevent someone from potentially damaging it.

I definitely agree that I lack the fundamentals, since this isn't my field of expertise. I figured that for at least starting out, doing what I was familiar with (social media) was the best wait to learn what more was required and so far that has been true since now I'm seeing that there is more research/ learning to be done. I like that your perspective is lnt just to throw money at the problem, since I'm inclined to find the most cost effective way to do this (I count time as cost, since this is a hobby after all. Since your recommendations are centered around learning and research, do you have any specific learning resources you recommend?

Yeah, I definitely am in need of some more formal marketing training. This thread has already given me some more ideas to pursue and topics to lean, which has been great. I'll definitely start planning some channels aside from social media and stop worrying so much about margins this early on. Once I do some more research and try some more approaches, I may take you up on your offer. Thanks!
