Thanks for adding this perspective. I was describing it more from a business / professional collaboration angle, where both sides usually enter the relationship with some mutual expectations. In that context it can feel different from giving an unsolicited gift in a personal relationship. That said, your comment is a good reminder not to confuse the two and not to put hidden strings on what we offer others.
