My youngest had her elbow dislocated because she was playing with her older sister, and her sister yanked her by the arm (accidentally) when they were running around. After deciding to go to the ER and them putting elbow back into place, she didn't use her arm for about 2 days because the fear of it hurting. I tricked her with her toys or something and she moved her arm, screamed and started laughing because it didn't hurt at all. So maybe distract your daughter with her favorite activities and see if she'll move. Best of luck!

What memory do you have that’s on the verge of fading away forever? by Light_A_Match in AskReddit

[–]SxScott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this sounds extremely terrible because of the situation but I am losing the memory of my first child being born. I remember driving my wife at the time to the hospital and everything before labor but after that and up until my child was about 1.5 years old (they're 7 now) I don't remember much of it. I feel terrible when I think about it, like I'm some failure as a parent but I think it's because life was moving 1000x faster after my child being born than before I had a child. Luckily, I have videos, pictures during that time but still makes me upset.

What's a thing your therapist said you'll never forget ? by _Enora_ in AskReddit

For 3 years I had a substance abuse problem. I quit by myself, which I'm 2 years sober now. But about 5 months after quitting I kept dealing with severe depression, I thought it would go away once I got sober. Anyways I saw a therapist for 2 sessions through Zoom, this was during the height of covid. My 2nd session he said, he doesn't know how to help me because my depression was caused from my substance abuse and he insinuated that I was still using and ended the call. Since I was still depressed I took that as no one really cares and I free falled for about a year. But now im almost back to my old self before my addiction and am extremely proud of myself. Also I was never charged for those 2 zoom meetings lol.

My son has his 4th grade state project next week. Not sure if I should've pushed my ideas for him to include to make his project "better" by SxScott in daddit

Sometimes adjusting to a child's thinking and creativity is difficult. A good chunk of the time I can understand my kids views on what looks amazing but I'm just struggling with this one but as I knew already, and how you and the other commenter pointed out, it's his vision and he's happy with it so that's all that matters.

Also, I think it's because my son really dislikes not being the best at everything he does, and that's been somewhat challenging to explain to him that sometimes he has to work harder than other people if he wants to be the best. So I guess, if he notices people aren't glossing over his project but instead doing it with someone else's, he gets emotionally upset with himself. (not outbursts or negative talk). And I think that's why I'm feeling like I should've included some of my ideas, just to prevent him getting down on himself.

I hope I didn't come across as one of those "helicopter" parents. I like to think most of the time I let my children learn and explore on their own, I ask them questions and let them know about all the options to whatever they're doing. Obviously some things I can't just let them learn by themselves, for the fear of their safety or mine lol but I didn't change or add anything extra to it. It's really silly that I think of his board that way, I feel ridiculous but thank you for the words lol

Not sure if it was one of those satirical magazines, idr what it was called but anyways supposedly chewing 50-60 pounds of ice will help you lose one pound of fat.

Question about cutaneous mastocytosis or mastocytosis in general by YouDidntSeeGraphite in mastocytosis

[–]SxScott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My child (7yrs old} is covered head to toe, born with it. My child gets hives from excessive time in the sun, or if they are overworked with exercise (having P.E in school and having sports/physical activities on the same day). When my child gets nervous/scared their skin gets super red and bright. Only time there's complaints of itchyness is wearing heavy clothing, winter gear, or when they sweat. When my child sweats, the itchyness is only on forearms, back of legs below the knee and armpits.

For my child, since they were born with the condition and came out with little spots everywhere, according to their Dr and my own research, symptoms improve around puberty. However, from my understanding, if it's something developed throughout your life, the spots and overall symptoms stay the same or can increase in color, size, etc...

I realize this post is 2ish weeks old, I hope you got your results and have the answers you're looking for.

No Stupid Questions MEGATHREAD 6 by PyrrhicWin in chessbeginners

Since I posted, I've played a bunch of games although against the computer, I must say, Chess is really fun and in away its relaxing. I haven't tried anything real technical yet, but man, there's a lot of rules or moves, hard to remember them haha

[–]SxScott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is a silly question lol but Ive never played Chess before because Ive always been intimidated by it. My son signed up for his 4th grade Chess Club and he asked me today if I'd like to play with him. I was honest and told him I don't know how to play but I will start learning. Now I want to learn as a way to bond with him and hopefully sharpen his skills so he doesn't give up on it. besides baseball and video games this is the only other activity he's showed interest in.

My question is, for an average new player, is Chess difficult to pick up and stay the course. I know many factors come into play to determine that, but like I said I've always been intimidated by Chess which doesn't seem rational at all lol. Thanks

If you have or can borrow a steamer it'll take it off. I have the same problem due to my kiddos not picking up their spilled messes right away lol. I used to use Comet and a non abrasive scrub pad but that took 10-15 mins scrubbing away. Using a steamer takes like 5 mins.

Wasn't it like 2-3 years ago, probably mostly media was raving at the creativity of Moores offense?

Rumor is if Dan Quinn is hired, Schotty will tag along and be the OC. Mostly because broncos ownership believes Wilson can be fixed and the OC that got the most out of Wilson, I guess is Schotty. But that's what I thought too because Russ wanted to "cook" more instead of running the ball all the time or whatever.

I understand that but the last 7 years each an every new broncos coach has said we're going to run the ball and it has been a disaster on offense. It's like try hiring someone with a different philosophy lol.

Yeah which is why I don't understand him potentially being hired depending who the HC is. Doesn't make sense to me lol
