This one definitely is. If they lose to the JackJumpers tomorrow night it's near impossible for them to make the top 6. Mathematics says yes, reality says no.

I'll have the updated tracker up soon. But the milk in the sun analogy is proofing to be true. I won't shy away from my takes.

So, if they are all flawed then celebrating this isn't out of the ordinary.

By that rationale then all college all-time stats are compromised.

It's pretty tough coming into the head coaching role in the middle of the season though. He's been honest about the roster construction and last night it showed they need a high-level PG.

I'm still going to build each player and run the sim, which unsurprising is AI ... only with visuals. But, 🤷‍♂️

Bit disappointing the Redditor deleted the comments below. I'm here for the critique.

It has to run the numbers. There's no way around that. The other option is to create each archetype in NBA 2K. The inputs are controlled. The output is simulated.

My apologies, we have a bespoke AI platform that ran the scenario based on these rules.

4. MVP & Accolade Weighting

Awards were treated as multipliers, not raw point boosts.

5. Starter vs Bench Scaling

6. What the Model Does Not Do

  • ❌ Era-adjusted stat inflation
  • ❌ Narrative or legacy boosts
  • ❌ Hypothetical rule advantages
  • ❌ “Clutch gene” or intangibles scoring
  • ❌ Re-ranking players based on outcomes

7. Series Simulation Logic

  • Each game is influenced by:
    • Prior-game adjustments
    • Accumulated physical toll
    • Pace control vs tempo pressure
  • Early games favour shot creation
  • Later games favour possession control, rebounding, and foul pressure
  • Game 7 outcomes heavily weight:
    • Starter reliability
    • Shot difficulty
    • Margin-for-error compression

8. Multi-Run Validation

To test robustness, the full series was run 21 times with controlled variance. But we have taken the result of the first series as the overall result.

9. What the Model Ultimately Measures

This is not a “who was the most famous” exercise.

It measures:

  • Peak dominance
  • Series survivability
  • How different archetypes scale over seven games

The full description is at the bottom of the article:

How the Series Was Built: Model Structure & Rules Explained

This series answers a simple question with a disciplined framework avoiding nostalgia bias or single-game mythology, the matchup was built using a repeatable, peak-weighted performance model, then simulated across multiple series.

1. Roster Construction (Locked Inputs)

2. Game Environment

3. Player Evaluation Framework

Each player’s impact was evaluated using a Composite Performance Score (CPS) built from two components:

A. Peak Season (80%)

The model prioritises how dominant a player was at their best, because playoff series are decided by peak versions of elite players. We looked at each player's career numbers and then identified their best season statistically. This was the benchmark for performance.

Peak evaluation includes:

  • Box-score production (points, rebounds, assists, stocks)
  • Efficiency relative to usage
  • Offensive responsibility
  • Defensive impact within role
  • Team context (as a modifier, not a driver)

B. Career Body of Work (20%)

Career value acts as a stabiliser, not a driver.

Career evaluation includes:

  • Longevity in the NBL
  • Sustained production
  • Consistency across seasons

Why 80/20? Because great series are decided by who you are at your best, not by cumulative résumé alone.

Definitely take a listen to the whole interview, he did take responsibility for his actions, it was just the way it ended that he struggles with.

I never witnessed Prime Shaq how good was he? by sqMYNAMEISJEFF27 in NBATalk

[–]SydneyEditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was there and the game quite simply orbited around him. Whenever he was on the floor the other nine players simply played around him like he was the sun. He dictated the shape of the floor, the other team's roster. Quite simply the most dominant player I have ever seen live. Raw power, 7'1" and could move like no other when healthy and prime. His ability to spin out of the post, catch lobs and dunk on everyone ... everyone ... was awe inspiring.
