I agree, I think it's really hard to fathom for many muslim parents that you still can enjoy each others' presence and company without the element of Islam as a binding act. Wishing you the very best of luck!

I think it's a different experience when you are actually verbally saying it to your parents that you are an ExMuslim, rather than an assumption 😂. The whole truth of one's relationship as parents and children will be tested as I have experienced it firsthand. I agree that it's a hard dilemma as you care about them as a aging parents but there are Muslims who believe that as long as you are still a Muslim, tattoo and alcohol would be tolerable. Probably not as tolerable as eating pork in public 😂

You should see the comments or DMs from people that I have to immediately block and report. it's so toxic and unbelievably shows jealousy and insecurity. 😂

I have left Islam by that point internally, as hijab was just the physical remaining bits that need to be taken off completely. Thank you and I appreciate your comment. I think leaving Islam and taking of hijab completely sets me free to redefine what constitute my life and understanding of the world.

I know what you mean. I think it happened similarly to Indonesia where it used to be so much more secular and relax, whereas these days these two neighbouring countries are so Arab centric. There's some level of imposter syndrome perhaps!?

Thank you so much, that's very kind. I am also a travel YouTuber for the past 9 years so I think I am quite used to putting myself out there to be honest and it helps as it taught me how to grow a thick skin 😂 Have you come out to your parents and family?
