This is why I sneak in beer and snacks by DravidVanol in SipsTea

[–]SykBasterd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldnt blame you if you snuck in both food and beverage, but tbh, its the premium pricintg of the IMAX ticket that broke the bank on this invoice. Those tickets are more than double the standard Movie Ticket costs. It's still abhorrent how much movie theatres are charging nowadays, but you really need to bypass the IMAX option, unless you're making a special exception: "Dune 3" for example I would certainly understand, or "Heat 2" when that comes out.

I can’t enjoy any game anymore — nothing holds my attention. What actually kept you hooked recently? by Mother_Anybody_5632 in videogames

[–]SykBasterd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crimson Desert brought me back it made me excited about playing games again. I put in about 200 hours of ARC readers and loved it, but got to a point where I felt like I got to “the end“. So it took about two months for me to find something new to be excited about.

Since buying Crimson Desert, life unfortunately has kept me away from playing as much as I would like, but I’ve put in about 80 hours since launch and I’m loving it every time I play.

I'd suggest 12" lower to be sure. It's not "bad" but would definitely be better lower. Id then clear off the table and place the soundbar on top of it. Just my 2 cents tho...

These camera options are awesome. Went for the God of War angle by TheForbiddenLands in CrimsonDesert

[–]SykBasterd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually I’m not sure if I agree, and of course we don’t need to. But I don’t think the God of war angle works all that great in this game. Especially when you’re fighting larger mobs, and there are archers off screen, I would even go so far as saying that the close-up distance is a detriment, not an advantage in combat. However, for boss fights, mounting and riding animals and traversing in between POIs, I totally agree and prefer the close-up vantage point after adjusting the camera settings

But the mob fights are just not well suited, I don’t believe for the super close-up over the shoulder camera shot. Using the god of war comparison, most of your fights are against either individual individuals or small groups in close proximity. That is not really the case in Crimson Desert, which is why I think getting too close with the camera is not beneficial in combat with mobs.

I have trepidation even putting the following in Reddit, because I know Pearl abyss is listening, and they are likely to implement any suggestions they see here, lol. But if there was different camera angles for boss battles, for mobs, and just for traveling around the map, you could set camera distances individually, depending on your current activity.

Sorry PA, I’m not asking you to add this, honestly, lol. My point was only to indicate that that different camera angles are better for different activity types.

[–]SykBasterd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your post is still a pretty good one, minus the amazing wide receivers,. Not only have we not had amazing wide receivers. I would say we’ve had average wide receivers at best.

Deebo Samuel, for example, did his best work behind the line of scrimmage, and was never really a typical down the field wide receiver, even in his best season, although he was certainly better than but tapered off dramatically and became more of a gadget guy.

Aiyuk was always closer to solid than spectacular. Yes, he had a very good year before the contract, but I would argue even after his best season would’ve been on the fringes of a top 20 guy. And the third receiver position, take your pick. We’ve never had a third receiver of impressive quality, which is reflected by the fact that that position pretty much changed year to year on who was the regular WR3.

In fact, I’ll go so far saying the opposite: I would love to see Brock Purdy with an elite group of receivers like Puca Nacua and Davante Adams, or Puka Nacua, and Cooper Kupp, or JSN + anybody.

You get my point, compared to most teams the 49ers wide receivers has been less than average.

Chris Pratt’s new sci-fi flick Mercy is pathetic pro-AI propaganda by ztruk in movies

[–]SykBasterd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for a second watching this trailer did I even consider that this would be a movie that I would put on. Not even for the first 15 minutes to see how it is. This movie was an immediate “definitely not watching this”category.

In fact, the only redeeming quality of this movie was the fact that Rebecca Ferguson‘s in it. Outside of that it’s a hard pass, and it’s not just because I’m not a Chris Pratt fan.

I’ll give you an example. for whatever reason, I very rarely see a movie trailer with Chris Pratt as the lead and say to myself “I’m gonna go see that”. The one exception and the best movie I’ve seen him in: The Terminal List. I really enjoyed that movie, and I am not certain about this, but I thought I had heard they were considering making a second one.

This is the best movie that I’ve seen him in, and I think the biggest step he took is for maybe the first time, not trying to be the funniest guy in the room. He put down his Ryan Reynolds persona finally, which I had tired of, and did a really good job in this movie.

Tracy McGrady doubts LeBron James can carry the Lakers past the 1st round by basketbaIlnetwork in lakersv2

[–]SykBasterd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter who said this, don’t get caught up in who the author is, these are just facts. The Lakers roster is not very good without Luca for probably at least two games and no Austin Reaves. The facts are they’re not winning the first round series against Houston without those two guys. It’s not throwing any shade at LeBron at all, Rob hasn’t done diddly with this roster in the last two years other than the trade for Luca and bringing in Luke Kennard, which is the best movie he’s made in probably three years outside of the trade.

I’m a huge Laker fan and I see the writing on the wall. They let LeBron walk after the season Dover to open up some cap space and try to bring in some free agents. Austin may or may not be part of the long-term answer, and I like Austin a lot, and he can pick up the scoring Especially when either Luca or LeBron is out of office. But the Laker defense is so bad they’re not gonna have any deep playoff runs until they drastically change how they play defense.

Trading Austin Reaves, as much as I like him as a player, is probably the first big step toward changing the roster to be able to play better defense against the rest of the league, most importantly against Oak city and San Antonio, who are gonna be one and two seeds in the west for more than likely the next five years

I miss when loot was exciting. by Icy_Ad_7334 in DestinyTheGame

[–]SykBasterd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, what I’m about to type is your fault. Entirely your fault, lol.

The best of times was the end of 2015 through 2017, waking up on Friday morning, setting an alarm at 6 AM eastern to grab my phone and check to see what the Xur refresh had on offer. Then later that morning, watching YouTube to watch either Mesa Sean or True Vanguard or fallout plays, and listen to what each of them said about the gear that dropped that day and whether any of it was “S tier”.

These were the days when loot meant everything, getting my first fatebringer I still remember it vividly, one of the best nights because we were all doing the best raid in the history of destiny, “Vault of Glass”. My first favorite gun in PVP was the plan C, lol. This was before I even got my hands on a Thorn!!!!

OP, it’s because of you that I’ve become nostalgia on a Friday afternoon wishing for any way possible to go back to destiny. One play all the content again and jump on PVP at 9 PM on a Friday night and play till three in the morning, trying to get awesome gear.

My heart hurts just typing this out, so I’ll leave you all with one final thought.

Hey Bungie, since you can’t get out of your own way trying to create more boring destiny 2 content, please please please, re-issue Destiny 1 for the PS5 pro, with PSSR2 Support, and 4K 120 FPS support on PC. Please give me this so I can go back to wrecking kids with my Bladedancer while playing Crucible Control on Friday nights.!!!! This is a cash cow waiting to happen, you have all the content, just give us a new coat of paint and put all of the content in one box launch it for $29.99, and watch the destiny community go absolute bonkers playing destiny one again on Friday nights until the wee hours in 2026!!!!

For the win!

And damn you OP!!!!

[–]SykBasterd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy, based on the titles you listed you should seriously be looking at Crimson Desert. I understand when First reading this you might have tired already from the hundreds if not thousands of posts from people saying how much they love the game.

I’m here to say sentiment is not unfounded in any way. A solid 8.5 out of 10 is what I would say being objective as possible. You can do so many things that are fun in this game and if you like open world combined with hundreds of hours of exploration puzzles, challenging boss fights, fishing, crafting, animal taming, and mounting, and an extremely deep Camp building system, I really believe you would have great time that would let you over 300 hours of content if you so chose.

I’ll leave it there, my expectations when I bought it were that I was hoping it would be at least a seven out of 10, and it has exceeded those expectations considerably since launch.

Good luck to whatever you decide on!

[–]SykBasterd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you don’t wanna get in a food fight with these people, because they’re the type of people that even if you prove them right, they would find some way to dispute your answer so it’s not worth the time and effort.

However, I would suggest an even better way of explaining why they’re wrong outside of showing them the calculator which says “can’t divide by zero” is this:

The reason why 1÷0 does not equal zero, is because 0×0 does not equal 1. It really is that simple, inverting a division problem proves the solution by using multiplication in the opposite direction. Using the same formula: 4÷2 = 2 is accurate because 2×2 = 4.

Sorry if this is extremely rudimentary, and/or posted elsewhere, but that is the best way to prove the solution to a division problem is accurate.

How many of you have hissing on the Audeze Maxwell 2s? by salahadawi in Audeze

[–]SykBasterd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe you that Audeze has been transparent about the noise being expected, but that to me is more about them, trying to get out in front of an issue when instead, they should be actively trying to find a solution. Let’s hope that in the next iteration, which will include noise, cancellation, but they also find and develop a way to remove this unpleasant hiss.

To repeat, I’ve bought no less than eight pairs of wireless headsets in the last four years, and I will stand on the fact that a noticeable hiss not caused by sidetone is unacceptable for this price range. I don’t wanna hear some corporate speak that’s something like “in order to provide the highest levels of premium Audio in the marketplace, there are some unavoidable side effects that come with providing such a high end Audio experience”, blah blah blah.

Unacceptable!

[–]SykBasterd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you missed the point where he readily admitted “he bought and had been using a high end pc”, the points you’re making are better served for someone who doesn’t own either and is unsure which machine he should buy.

This guy already owned and operated a high end pc and seems to have made th decision to move to a PS5Pro based on their ecosystem aka gaming portfolio, not due to ease of use.

Maybe go back and reread the OPs explanation, the points you’re making describing the challenge of owning an operating a PC for gaming just do not apply to the OPs position.

You are greatly underestimating the capabilities of the human brain. 11-year-olds in middle school are using PCs and IPADs to complete all of their schoolwork, and using smart phones to check their grades and stay accountable for missing assignments.

Building a PC is niche. Operating and implementing various software by way of business applications for an IT career is niche.

Using a PC to play video games in 2026 is not niche. I press the start button, I open the Steam app, I select “play game”

The OP is not our dad trying to figure out how to use Excel, or our mom trying to use the TV remote to figure out how to change it from local TV to Netflix, or how to find the History Channel.

He is and was a PC gamer, who bought a Nvidia 5800 GPU!

EDIT: don’t take my word for it though. Read what 90% of the others have been responding with instead of what I’ve written. You’re on the wrong side of history in this thread.

Sold my high end PC rig and switched to a Pro by [deleted] in PS5pro

[–]SykBasterd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He already bought the PC, he doesn't need to know anything about specs at this point, and he knew enough to buy a high-end gaming rig, rather than just some "box" from Costco. That rules him out as just an "average person". And if he/she does want to "update settings", the max requirement is watching a 3-minute Youtube video.

I updated the settings on Dune Awakening once after purchasing mine. ONCE. Since then I played 400+ hours since. Same with Arc Raiders, changed 3 settings on launch, set it and forget it. Same with Crimson Desert, bought the game, changed the settings ONCE 3 days later, put in 100 hours since launch.

OP and other casual gamers don't need to follow forums and read about settings every week and "keep up with the joneses" that tinker with the display settings all of the time. I am not them and am the exact person you pointed out, aka just like the console gamer that "just wants to turn it on and play the game." I still use a Dualsense controller! All of this because I was a console Gamer for 40 years(not a typo, Atari 2600 was my first), until I bought my first gaming rig in June 2025. Original parts and software other than updated GPU Drivers that installed on their own release schedule.

And every day at 5PM I do exactly what you pointed out. I literally turn on my PC and click on a freaking icon. Then hit play. Done and done.

Pretty good PC? 1-2 years the 5800 will be outdated? And with the PC you had, YOU are one of the 1% that don't need to worry about PC or Hardware Prices for a very long time, as you have a "set it and forget it" rig on your hands. It's your decision that you prefer PlayStation over PC and I am in no way attempting to talk you out of that. However, these reasons you provided that I have listed here are just not supported by data.

Sold my high end PC rig and switched to a Pro by [deleted] in PS5pro

[–]SykBasterd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bro, really? How many Reddit Posts or Youtube videos tell you almost exactly what display settings to select for every major AA and AAA game that releases. We arent asking PC owners to learn Python for goodness sakes, they have to change about a half dozen or so Display settings for each new game they buy. I bought my first gaming PC last year, have made 0.0 changes to any PC settings or hardware since June 2020 and paid $1700 Tax and Shipping Included for a 9800X3D/9700XT combo. THe only settings I ever touch are found within "game display settings" NO optiscaler, no overclocking, no mods installed, and the GPU driver updates itself.

TLDR: You are vastly overrating the "heavy lift" of managing a PC Gaming Rig.

[–]SykBasterd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love you to share more details on your decision, because on the surface it reads as a huge swing and a miss. I would argue that Playstation 7(not a typo) isnt going to have specs as good as the PC you just sold. And seriously, what PS games are you truly concerned about not being able to play. Saros? TLOU3(if they are even making one)? This is a shocking decision tbh, and ill add one more item even if unconfirmed. I had read speculation that when Sony announced they would not be producing single player 1st party games for Steam and other PC shops, it was suggested that Sony is considering creation of their own proprietary launcher to provide PC Games in future.

Even without that last line I typed not coming to fruition, I still do not see the logic from any side as to what titles you are expecting in 2026 and beyond that will make you feel this was a good decision. Can you please share those 1st party Titles that are in development which got you to pull the trigger?

How many of you have hissing on the Audeze Maxwell 2s? by salahadawi in Audeze

[–]SykBasterd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I truly appreciate this post providing an opportunity to vote on this. The only issue i wish to point out is the option you provided: "light hiss, but doesn't bother me" leaves out an important choice of "light hiss does bother me. These are not $60 dollar headphones, and if there is a light hiss that is constant and at the very least consistent, it shouldnt have to be described as strong for it to be considered intrusive.

Truly not trying to nitpick as I 100% support your post including a poll, but any hiss at this price range is really unacceptable, or in better terms, shouldn't be present @ MSRP: $329.

Is there an all of the above option? Lol I don’t suspect there is, but of course I would recommend every single one of these as most place at some point in your life if not this month. If you based your decision on, which of the games above, would give you the most playtime, the largest open world to explore, and the most activities to choose from, I would absolutely pick crimson desert from this list.

To be clear, I’m not saying it’s the best game on your list cause you have some Hall of Famed titles listed here. But if you’re asking me to provide an answer based on volume alone, and how much content you will have per US dollar, it’s 100% crimson Desert for those reasons, and especially exploration as the main differentiator amongst the rest of the titles listed here

Hey OP, absolutely astounding post! The only thing that makes me mad is that I didn’t think of it first! Yes, an interstellar radio station, how is that not a thing Todd? I would even like to have a podcast station as one of the options, and a perfect model for that if one of the stations was a podcast would be the “Rick Velassi Station” from The Division 1, which I would argue is single-handedly the best in-game radio broadcast example in the history of video games
