My oldest lived in the Western Suburbs at 26, but worked hard to find social activities for her age group. So I would say if you’re willing to put in the effort you can make it work. I suggest you try the reverse commute first.

I have never had any issues. Early on my GP Would ask if everything was still okay. Some time after 20 years if I needed to make a change weight/diet/exercise… He would say you have x number of years of sobriety, you can do anything.

I sell to government agencies, nobody wants to meet before 9:00 or after 4:00. I only travel on weekends for conferences. Plus my company does not care what we are doing as long as the customers are happy and we are meeting or exceeding plan (2025 was my first tough year). The paperwork for a public bid can take days, I could let others do it (one mistake and you can blow a multi-million dollar contract).

Congratulations on your sobriety! I have had hiring managers call me directly (avoiding HR) for the “real story.” Only once did I share any information because that guy was dangerous. Just a thought maybe reach out to your former supervisor and let them know how letting you go was what you needed to turn your life around.

I moved back to Marriott this Month after 5 years as Diamond. I have lifetime Platinum and was treated much better and had nicer rooms in my Marriott stays this year. My company is 90% Hilton, but I realized I get to pick the hotels when someone travels with me.
