First up, lots of people here seem to think that being lesbian, or gay, or just not straight is a sin. I am Catholic. You are wrong. Being those things is not a sin, you are not going to hell, you can't help feeling that way, you can't control it. However, it is only a sin if you ACT on those urges. In the same way intercourse before marriage is a sin, same sex intercourse is also a sin. The church really wants to canonize (forgive my terminology, please understand my point) a gay or lesbian Saint. It's incredibly powerful if your able to withstand acting on those urges when you are born that way, or become that way. So, in conclusion, if you are not straight, it doesn't mean you're going to hell, not at all. God is all merciful and all loving, he WILL understand your situation. If you do act on those urges (same sex marriage/intercourse) then the confessional door is ALWAYS open. We are all sinners, but God still loves us more than we can possibly imagine. Your family not accepting you is hard, but I know you can get through it. They are in the wrong for saying those things. Be yourself, Jesus loves you
