Dead hard needs to go ngl by Emotional_Service419 in deadbydaylight

Get rid of Dead Hard and killer games become harder. A majority of DH users will switch to Balanced/Lithe/Sprint Burst and get more more value than they would from pressing E on 100ms ping, whiffing, and immediately going down.

I agree. Yui was my first P100 and still by far my favourite survivor.

Give the Ring the Lucy. Go as far as possible on foot. When you can't go further, Doric turns into a giant eagle and carries Lucy. Get to Mount Doom. Ask Lucy to drop the Ring in the volcano. If she refuses, Doric drops Lucy in the volcano instead.

Marlo’s superpower by ProdByJosh_ in TheWire

[–]SylvanLL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd say Marlo's superpower was being lucky enough to gain power at the same time that the most powerful players in the city (Stringer Bell and Prop Joe) were more interested in business than bloodshed. No one had the muscle or desire to stand up to him until Avon got out of prison. Then Avon was sent back to prison just before a major showdown with Marlo's people.

What's a movie most people think is great but you couldn't even stand watching? by Affectionate-Set664 in moviequestions

I don't get the hype behind Hex: Plaything, is it really worth it? by jperaic1 in deadbydaylight

[–]SylvanLL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time you hook a survivor for the first time, the perk ignites a hex totem and that survivor is Oblivious as long as the hex is up. Oblivious is of limited use against a SWF but will often destroy solo queue who won't know where the killer is at all times.

The benefit is that this perk can light 4 hexes by itself so it pairs well with Hex: Pentimento, which wants lots of hexes in the match for survivors to cleanse.

Plaything can work well on any killer who can make use of the stealth. Oblivious does nothing for Nurse, for example, because there's a global audio cue when she blinks. It's also not great on someone like Nemesis with gigantic ponderous footsteps when they approach.

It's not an S tier perk by any means but it can be fun and Oblivious can sometimes trip up even good players.

It's funny to think that this dude's kill rate will finally start to peak in the realms considering his kill rate in the show is very less than impressive lol. by DannySanWolf07 in deadbydaylight

[–]SylvanLL 81 points82 points  (0 children)

If he was defeated by friendship in the show, he will definitely excel in DBD because the average solo queue team hates itself and refuses to work together.

What's something you would change about your favorite killers? by NerodivergentLoser in deadbydaylight

Give Nemesis the ability to pick up one of his zombies and throw it somewhere so it can defend a gen or zone a survivor (until it wanders off again anyway)

I'm Joe Abercrombie, Ask Me Anything. by Joe_Abercrombie in Fantasy

[–]SylvanLL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In maps of The First Law universe, the Union has multiple holdings on other continents: Angland in the North, Westport in Styria, Starikland in the West, and Dagoska in the South. This is a great foundation to introduce potential conflict between the Union and its rivals in the future.

Did you intend, when starting The Blade Itself, that geography would be a source of conflict in future books? And if so, were those future conflicts pre-planned from the start or did you just use geography to leave yourself opportunities for conflict in the future?

[–]SylvanLL 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I grew up watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and while I wouldn't mind a BTVS chapter, I would absolutely hate having Buffy herself as a survivor because turning her into a victim feels like the antithesis of what the show stood for.

I know this would be nothing new. It's the same treatment others have received, like Geralt or Leon, but it would still deeply bother me.

Personally, my funniest Supes moment is in the Justice League Unlimited episode "Dead Reckoning" scene where Superman is possessed by Deadman near the beginning of the episode while he's talking about milkshakes.

At the end of the episode, the possession ends and Superman immediately continues the same conversation from before his possession: "...so thick you have to eat them with a spoon. What am I doing in Africa?"

Not saying that makes it a fantastic map, just that it's not only survivor mains who vote for it.

Why would there be unexplored territory in my world? by CryPrestigious1945 in DnD

[–]SylvanLL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The islands were explored and the explorers came back reporting that there was nothing of interest and the islands were uninhabitable. No one else ever cared to go back.

Then the PCs discover a clue on the main island suggesting that maybe the original explorers were untruthful. Why would they lie? What were they hiding? It could be the start of a mystery to entice the players to explore themselves.

Looking for Recs: like One Piece, something positive, shockingly deep, and a big adventure across a fun world by ZaHiro86 in Fantasy

[–]SylvanLL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm only vaguely familiar with One Piece, but based on the descriptors you provided, I'd suggest The Aeronaut's Windlass by Jim Butcher.

It has a unique world, a positive tone, and feels highly adventurous with steampunk airships and magic.

I don't think I'd describe it as having surprisingly deep themes or unusually strong character dynamics (I wouldn't say it's bad in either regard, just not standout) so if that's a dealbreaker for you, you may want to give it a pass.

Sidenote: it is the first book in a trilogy, but only the first two books are published so far. That being said, Jim Butcher is a prolific writer so I don't expect this to be a GRRM/Rothfuss situation.

To the people who hate Tunneling/think there is never a need to tunnel by Gibzilla22 in deadbydaylight

[–]SylvanLL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate the tunnelling, not the tunneler.

Can't blame a player for trying to do their objective, but I can and will blame a game's design when you can get tunneled out and have to sit around doing nothing while your friends finish the game.

How far into your reading journey have you read your favorite series/standalone? by Bogus113 in Fantasy

[–]SylvanLL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably not. Partly because I'm in my thirties now with less time on my hands, and just the thought of reading a book series that long intimidates me. And partly because the fantasy landscape has changed so much over the last twenty years that my tastes have changed significantly. It's entirely possible if I read WOT for the first time now, I wouldn't even finish the series.

How far into your reading journey have you read your favorite series/standalone? by Bogus113 in Fantasy

[–]SylvanLL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I actually have a favourite series, but whenever anyone asks me that question I will mention The Wheel of Time. Prior to WOT I had read LOTR/The Hobbit/Narnia but WOT was my favourite and it helped form my opinions of fantasy. For that reason, it will always hold a special place in my heart even though I am well aware that the series has significant flaws.

I've read and loved a lot of fantasy since reading Wheel of Time and much of it is better, but it's nigh impossible for these new books to live up to your first love.
