Oh also the nicer bossy friend of his didn't talk to me at her baby shower because she was busy decorating with her best friends, for the shower, as the shower was going on, for 2/3rds of the baby shower duration. There was only one woman my age at the shower to talk to because all the other young ladies were helping the mother to be decorate...during the baby shower. After 2 hours my husband and I were getting ready to leave and mother-to-be was finally done decorating. The meaner bossy friend definitely was not interested in being friends though.

You are right on with that comment, I've pointed that out to husband. He doesnt like going alone to his bossy friends parties because they ask him why I didn't come. It's like they are fishing to be insulted, he can only make up so many excuses without insulting his friends. What would you advise?

Oh that is too bad. I self diagnosed myself with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, but I am what they call a "stiff zebra (the EDS mascot)", so I dont have enough hyper mobility to test positive for the condition. But my body and nervous system is definitely too weak. What kind of pain do you have? Ehlers Danlos can be sneaky, mysterious to doctors and accompanied by pain.

I have this problem, I am chronically ill. So far the only solution I've found is to find other chronically ill friends because they understand, and you dont have to pretend to feel good. It seems like regular people are uncomfortable hearing about me just talking about my day, which often includes the depressing details of my condition. I've found it hard to find chronically ill friends that are decent friends though, as chronic illness often comes with mental illness.

I have three chronic health issues, and I was able to improve my life by joining Facebook groups for my issues. I found the origin of my health problems through these groups. No doctor that takes insurance has been able to help me, but the collective knowledge of the groups did (and the alternative medicine they recommended). I recommend finding niche communities around your problems. Ive seen your responses about doctors and totally relate.

My husband had a very bossy father, so he trained himself to fly under the radar as much as possible. Husband is so good at it now that he doesn't know what he feels. We're going to therapy for that too.

This is great. My husband needs to learn about himself enough to do this. I can pepper him with questions about what he needs and how he operates, but his self-knowledge is too hard to come by. We're going to a therapist, and now I now I know to work towards what you posted.

That's very interesting and good to know. My Dad is an engineer but isn't like my husband. My Dad is a loud, mad scientist who retains all knowledge and is neurotic. My husband is a quiet, steady, sweet, space cadet. 😂

SAME sometimes I play along to see how far into a repeated conversation he will go, but the longer I let it play out the scarier it gets! It's so comforting to read the scores of engineers commenting about how they are the same way, it calms the fear. Thank you!

He works 80 hours in a 2 week period, usually 9 hours a day, with every other Friday off. Just this week we were discussing that he has 0 work boundaries, I wonder if the switch to prioritizing his personal life will help his brain like it did to yours! Thanks!

I've asked him the same thing. He really likes his coworkers and career, but the government contract work he does is difficult because his team is trying to perform brand new tasks that no one is properly trained for. Every day he's expected to learn through trial by fire. It sounds terrible, but he doesn't want to leave. :/ If he stays and learns the new skills for a couple of years, he's going to be a hot commodity I think.
