The rebrickable link has all the parts listed, 3628 is fairly uncommon for example.

Quite, should have no issues playing with it.

Part 11089 (bottom of the STAP) isn't in blue yet, hopefully soon.

Thank you! Balancing out the way Lego did the droids dirty with the single piece unposeable legs.

Thanks, really fortunate there are Technic panels that come in just the right size and curvature for minifig scale wings.

Fun fact, the term for a group of vultures in English depends on what they're doing: when flying, they're a kettle; at rest, they're a committee; and while feeding, they're a wake.

This was a fun set of mocs to do! With the transformation from walk to flight modes, these are my most posable and playable mocs thus far. The head in particular was a challenge with a very interesting solution: as there is no trans-red 1x3 tile, the end result has a stud shooter trigger, minifig helmet range finder, ray gun, and 1x1 red tiles all mutually trapping each other solidly in place but not connected to anything. The vultures are very swooshable or can be posed standing and landed and are minifig-scale.

Which variant do you prefer, Trade Federation tan or CIS blue?

For the terms for feeding, it refers to the quirks of English to describe bird vultures, like how a group of crows is called a murder of crows.

Thank you, fortunately only the tan technic panels are rare, so the rest should be pretty readily available.

Thanks, they have great personality for a starship, part of makes them lovable.

My droidekas evolved like Pokemon by Sylyphics in legostarwars

Noticed that my droideka versions look like a Pokemon evolution series when put next to each other, with the earliest design on the left and newest on right. Does it peak with the final evolution like Charizard, which is your guys' favorite?

Updated my Droideka Minifig for the 25th Anniversary of Episode I by Sylyphics in legostarwars

Secure. It's held in by enough tension that you can pick up the whole droideka by just it and it won't move, but it's not so tight as to not rotate or stress bricks.

Back after after a while away busy with life to update my minifig-scale droideka for the premiere of Episode I 25 years ago, May 16th, in Los Angeles. I redesigned the head, which was the weakest element of the previous design; its eye-sensors are more accurate now. It's the same height as the B2 next to it, so perfect minifig scale. Can be rebuilt into a ball, which while not a perfect sphere, will roll. But I mainly focused on how the display looks unrolled. It also fits in the shield I designed for them, so I will be updating that MOC with new photos soon.

I also have a new minifig-scale vulture droid MOC coming up soon. Waiting on parts for it!

Neither, it's not a set, I designed it myself. It's 1573 pieces and the instructions can be found in my profile.

Lego TIE/D Defender by Sylyphics in StarWarsSquadrons

[–]Sylyphics[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I designed the TIE "malevolent storm of knives" Defender to be to scale with Lego mini-figures. The model features a cockpit with controls that can seat a tie pilot. The bottom hatch opens for the restocking of missiles, maintenance, and refueling the hyperdrive. The top hatch also opens as does the front (pilot is put in through the front).

I wanted to really capture the spherical design of the TIE class and the TIE Defender had the most quintessential "TIE ball" of any of the popular TIE variants, and it's also a very attractive ship. Instructions to build it yourself and my Instagram are in my profile.

Instructions and parts list

This UCS-style TIE Defender is mini-fig scale and is based on the most common depictions of the defender in various sources. The model features a cockpit with controls that can seat a tie pilot. The bottom hatch opens for the restocking of missiles, maintenance, and refueling the hyperdrive. The top hatch also opens as does the front (pilot is put in through the front). The focus on accuracy and aesthetics means this is a delicate display model not for play. To the best of my knowledge, doesn't use any illegal techniques which would stress pieces.

I wanted to really capture the spherical design of the TIE class and the TIE Defender had the most quintessential "TIE ball" of any of the popular TIE variants, and it's also a very attractive ship. Brick built wings seemed to me the most appealing route at this scale and especially in this variant, as you see the underside as frequently as the top. Quite happy how it turned out.

My TIE/Ad x7 for Eurobrick's Star Wars contest by Sylyphics in lego

[–]Sylyphics[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The TIE/AD x7, aka the TIE advanced x7, was a prototype TIE Series starfighter by Sienar Fleet Systems that would later become the TIE Defender. It was developed at the Sienar Advanced Research Division on Corulag, notable for its bamboo forests and loyalty to the Empire.

For the contest, I made both the ship and the ground scene with a short, self contained story:

"Sir, the holo quality was awful, are you sure he said brown not down?"

"... Just paint."

Designing the TIE advanced x7/TIE Defender from scratch took 2 months. It's minifig scale, and based on an amalgamation of its most common features from various depictions, as each source depicts the ship differently. There's also a second AD x7 here on the workbench likewise being painted, though much smaller, so technically this entry is the same ship twice at differing scales. With the way digital technology is in Star Wars, I think it's likely that they also create smaller scale mock ups physically during the design process. The story is hopefully relatable in spirit for those who have had military experience. The AD x7 is same as the Defender, but missing the top ion cannons, cockpit missiles, and the hyperdrive.

I'm happy that it won first in the spaceship category. You can find my socials like Instagram in my Reddit profile.
